Meet the beautiful 14 year old Oreo (known as Ozzy) 💜🐱
This little lady really does not like to be groomed, especially around her back legs and bottom. She suffers with arthritis in her hind limbs which adds to her dislike of being handled. 😕
Unfortunately, due to her low tolerance of being brushed, she had developed a lot of thick mats all over her body. She also had overgrown nails with 1 growing in to her pad, causing a small wound. 🐾
On my first visit to Ozzy, I was able to clip her nails and shave a few of her mats out before she got a bit scratchy and bitey! 🤣
On my 2nd visit, she had been medicated with a light sedative which allowed her to be a bit more relaxed with handling. 💊
I also used some calming spray and a cosy wrap. 🥰
Her human helped gently support Ozzy’s back legs for me to focus on removing the mats from her tummy, chest and around her bottom. 💜
We gave her plenty of breaks and she enjoyed some licky treats too! 💜
Ozzy will need a re-visit in a few weeks to complete her demat, and then regular maintenance sessions to prevent any further mats from building up. 🐱
She is certainly a lot happier now that she is (almost) mat free!! 🤣💜
