It's with a heavy heart I write this post. Anyone that follows me knows I always praise my cover dog walkers, for the wonderful job they do.
Unfortunately, I now feel that people need to be informed of the care provided by Stuwalksdogs
He used aversive equipment on a dog, (not agreed by the owner) and did not take the feedback well - instead cancelling all further bookings.
I've since spoken to owners who have given me cause for serious concern. My background is in safeguarding vulnerable adults and children and I apply those rules to animals, which means that allegations I hear need to be taken seriously.
If you are looking for a dog trainer, walker, pet sitter or groomer make sure they work in a positive welfare based way, creating a safe space for your dog. Building trust, confidence and connection through positive reinforcement and empathy. Claire Lawrence at Reactive Dog Training is an excellent example of this.
Punitive punishment methods, comprised of intimidation, fear and pain to stop unwanted behaviours are outdated and cruel. These are the methods that imposes. These are second hand allegations, of which I can not evidence, however I can state my own experience of him after caring for one of my clients animals.
It is my duty as a care provider to make owners aware that this 'training ' still continues, with some rogue carers, of which you may not be aware of.
Always discuss with your carer any techniques they may use, and I cannot recommend .
