🐶✨ Easy Peasy Puppy – 6 Week Course ✨🐶

Our next Easy Peasy Puppy course starts on Sunday 14th June and there are now only a couple of places left.

With a maximum of 5 puppies per class, spaces are kept small so that you get plenty of support throughout the course.

Over the 6 weeks, we cover a whole range of important foundation skills, including:

⭐ Focus
⭐ Sit
⭐ Recall
⭐ Loose lead walking
⭐ Lie down
⭐ Leave it
⭐ Drop
⭐ Settle training
⭐ And lots, lots more

Each session is followed up with an email recap going through everything we’ve covered, and you’ll also receive video links of me teaching other dogs the behaviours, so you’ve always got something to refer back to as you work through your training at home 🎥📩

And even if you miss a class, you’ll still receive the email, so you won’t be left behind and you’ll still have all the information from that session.

We also build in Q&As and check-ins each week, so if you’re facing any challenges or tricky puppy behaviours, we can help guide you through them and give the best advice we can to support both you and your pup.

This course is designed to help you build strong foundations, better communication, and a great relationship with your puppy right from the start 🐾

Only a couple of places remain, so if you’d like to join us, click the link below and get booked on.

📅 Starts Sunday 14th June

☀️🐶 Another hunting game to play with your dog in hot weather 🐶☀️

With temperatures this week due to creep up into those riskier levels for younger dogs, older dogs, bigger dogs, and many others too, it’s really important that we slow down and properly assess whether our dogs need that walk at all.

Hot pavements can be a real danger. If it’s too hot for your bare foot, just think how hot it is going to feel on your dog’s pads.

And if you do have to take your dog out because, for example, they won’t toilet in the garden, then think short and sensible:

🌳 choose shady woodland or cooler areas
⏱️ keep it to 5, 10 or 15 minutes
🏠 then get them back home before they become overheated

Remember, dogs don’t cool themselves like we do. They mainly cool down through panting, so if your dog is heavily panting without having done much exercise, that’s a clear sign they may be struggling with the heat and need help cooling down.

So when it’s too hot for long walks, this is another brilliant little hunting game you can play at home instead 👇

🧀 Grab some treats or small pieces of cheese
🪴 Use lightweight plant pots, cones, or anything easy for your dog to knock over
🐾 Hide the treats underneath

To begin with, let your dog watch you putting the treat under the cone or pot. We’re setting them up for success and helping them learn that if they investigate, sniff, and knock it over, they’ll find the good stuff inside.

For some dogs this becomes a fun little puzzle straight away. For others, it can take a bit of confidence building — and that’s absolutely fine.

If your dog struggles, help them out:
✅ tip the cone over for them
✅ show them where the treat is
✅ make it easy before making it harder

Once they start to understand the game, you can progress it by scattering a couple of treats on the floor first, and while your dog is busy eating those, quietly hide another treat under one of the cones without them seeing.

Then encourage them to go and find it 👃

If you’ve done enough easy repetitions first, you’ll often start to see your dog confidently searching, sniffing, and flipping the cones over on their own.

These types of games are brilliant because sniffing is:

💙 calming
🧠 mentally stimulating
🐶 natural and rewarding for dogs

And for many dogs, a good sniffing game can be far more beneficial than people realise.

Have a watch of the video, give it a go, and let me know how your dog gets on 🙌

🧀🐶 The Cheese Hunting Game 🐶🧀

With some hot weather heading our way over the next few days ☀️, it’s worth remembering that there may be times when it’s just too warm to walk our dogs safely.

When that happens, it doesn’t mean our dogs don’t need anything to do — it just means we need to get a little bit creative with how we keep them busy, entertained, and fulfilled at home.

One simple game I really like is the cheese hunting game 🧀👃

It only takes a couple of minutes to set up:
✅ Chop a small amount of cheese into tiny pieces
✅ While your dog is indoors, hide the pieces around the garden
✅ Then bring your dog out to play

If your dog has never played this game before, start off nice and easy.
Say “find it” and point directly to each piece of cheese, only a centimetre or two away from it.

Do that with every piece to begin with, and what you’ll start to do is build up that hunting behaviour.

With repetition, your dog will begin to understand the game, and before long you’ll be able to scatter bits of cheese around the garden, say something like “come on then, let’s play the cheese game”, and watch them get to work hunting it all out 🐾

This sort of game is brilliant because it taps into your dog’s natural sniffing instincts.

For us humans, our main sense is our eyesight.
For dogs, it’s their nose.

That means these little scent games can be a really good way of helping your dog use their brain and burn off some energy in a safe and appropriate way when the weather is too hot for much else.

Have a watch of the video, give it a go with your dog, and let me know how you get on 🙌
