It’s Fluff Friday here at The Kettering Vets and we’ve been absolutely spoiled with snuggles from this adorable litter of puppies! 😍🍼

While it’s all cuddles and cuteness now, this visit is an important one. These little ones are in for their first check-ups, microchipping, and vaccinations to give them the healthiest start in life. 🩺✨

🎉🐾 Weigh in Wednesday: Toddington's Weight Loss Journey! 🐾🎉

Meet Toddington the Cockerpoo, our charming clinic regular who's been working hard with Nurse Char at our Weight Loss Clinic since March!

When he started his journey, Toddington weighed 15kg and as of August, he’s proudly down to 14kg! 💪🐶 That’s a whole 1kg lost, just by fine-tuning portion sizes, getting the right amount of exercise, and swapping out treats, no food changes needed!

With the support of his amazing owner and a bit of guidance from Nurse Char, Toddington is now at his ideal body weight and looking paws-itively fantastic! ✨

Meet Millie, a sweet Old Tyme Bulldog, who’s been on arthritis medication for a few months now and what a difference it’s made!

✅ FACT: Pets are masters at hiding pain or illness. Many conditions—like dental disease, arthritis, or early kidney issues—can go unnoticed without a professional exam.

🩺 Annual (or twice-yearly for seniors) wellness visits help catch issues early, when they're easier (and cheaper!) to treat. Prevention is always better than cure. 🐾

🌾 Grass Seed Season Strikes Again! 🐾

Meet Freyja the cat, who came in with a very sore eye and the culprit? A pesky grass seed lodged under her conjunctiva! 😿

Vet Beth carefully took her out back, applied tropicamide to dilate the eye, then performed a conjunctival sweep to safely remove the seed. A fluorescein test showed staining under the conjunctiva, confirming the irritation. Thankfully, the grass seed was fully removed and Freyja has made a brilliant recovery! 🐱💚

‼️ Grass seeds are more than just a nuisance, they can cause serious issues in eyes, ears, paws, and even get under the skin.

📊 So far this summer, we've already treated 33 grass seed cases! If your pet is squinting, shaking their head, limping, or just not quite right - get them checked.

Stay vigilant during walks and garden time, especially with long grass about. It’s grass seed season, don’t let your furry friend fall victim! 🌿

🐾 Say hello to Roan! 🐶💛

This sweet 3-month-old bundle of energy popped for his general health check and some important flea and worming treatment! 🩺✨

Roan was an absolute superstar — full of cuddles, curiosity, and a tail that didn’t stop wagging! 🌟

Routine check-ups and parasite prevention are key to keeping pups like Roan healthy as they grow. We loved meeting this little guy and can’t wait to watch him thrive! 🐕🌿

🐶💙 Alfie! 💙🐶

Sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Alfie, has been through quite the ordeal recently 😢 He developed a deep ulcer in his eye (ouch!), and it was serious enough that he needed a very complex surgery called a Corneoconjunctival transposition (CCT). This complex surgery involves transferring a piece of healthy corneal tissue, along with its attached conjunctiva, from the edge of the eye to cover the damaged area. This graft provides structural support, promotes healing, and can help preserve vision. It’s a pretty complex eye operation usually performed at referral centres 😮‍💨

Luckily, we have Vet Louise, a Certificated Veterinary Ophthalmologist who is able to perform surgeries like this here at TKV 🌟 Following the surgery, Alfie's dedicated owners applied drops many times a day and gave him lots of TLC. A few weeks later the graft has almost completely healed and he has full vision! ❤️‍

For now, Alfie goes out with his 'Doggles' to protect his eyes from any more ulcers. We think he looks VERY handsome 🐾💫
Alfie’s been an absolute champ through it all – still wagging his tail, stealing cuddles, and melting hearts wherever he goes. He really is famous here!💕

Dottie came in for her routine spay last week and let’s just say, she did it in true Cattitude style. 💅🐾

Meet Dottie, our brave little patient who also claimed the title of Coolest Cat Accessory of the Week... wearing none other than a tiny sombrero! 🎩🌵
Yes, you read that right. A sombrero. And she totally owned it. 😹💃
