I am so proud of Malou 🥹
Malou started with me in January and was rehomed from an overseas rescue after being found on the streets as a puppy! She is nervous of the world, but her lovely owners have been helping her feel safe and showing her it’s not a scary place. She is nervous of strangers, loud noises, traffic- to name a few- so I started off taking her to their usual field across the road and coming home as soon as she wanted to. Letting her chose the route and pace, whilst taking off any pressure to interact with me, helped her feel more confident coming out with me. After a while I thought she would benefit from walks at a different location away from the road and lots more space to roam. It was slow progress but little by little she would come out of her shell and trust me more! At the start I couldn’t even get any eye contact, but she started to notice my presence more and actually recalling near me ☺️ After her location walks were going well, I noticed her interest in other dogs and thought I could use another dog to help her. So I paired her up with 1-2 dogs on her own mini group/pair and she really blossomed. Paired up with going to different locations further away that were free of traffic and any other passing people, she really started to enjoy coming out! She would quietly trot along and briefly interact with the others, but has always been too shy for anything more.!
Fast forward to now- she’s enjoying exploring all new places on groups and has started running/frolicking around!! She’s been really listening to my voice lately and today, she was SO engaged with me 🥰 The best moment was when she initiated some play with Red 🥹 I was so happy to see as I can tell she wants to, but just isn’t quite ready yet. She was recalling to me, taking treats and posing for the photos 😭
Beyond proud on how far she’s came and seeing how happy she gets for her walks with me now 🥰🫶🏼
