🌱 Winter Care Tip for my Organic Wheat Spelt Grass 🌱
During the winter months, grass naturally slows down in growth and becomes mostly dormant. This means it needs far less water than it does in warmer seasons.
💧 How to know when to water
• If the tray or pot feels heavy, it already has enough moisture, don’t water yet.
• Only water once the tray feels light to lift. That’s your sign the roots actually need it.
🚫 Why over-watering is harmful
Grass roots need oxygen as well as water. When the compost stays constantly wet, oxygen is pushed out, causing the roots to rot. This leads to yellowing, mould, and eventually the grass dying, even though it looks like it’s being “well cared for”.
🌾 Less water in winter = healthier roots
🌾 Let it dry slightly between watering
🌾 Trust the weight test — heavy means hydrated
