Monty is in the wars again - no idea how he sustained these injuries to his legs, he just ran in from the garden with blood all over 2 of his legs. The vet made a neat job of stapling his wounds closed, only for the one on his back leg to have re-ooened (last picture) so looks like it will need to heal the slow way. At times like these you realise how paper thin a whippet's skin is...

Incorporating the healing power of nature into therapy can take many forms. At our recent wellbeing day for therapists, material from nature - such as sticks, branches, pine cones, foliage, and blossom - were gathered and then selected and arranged with care to create a mandala of deep symbolic significance to the participants.

This week Monty has had superficial digital flexor tendonectomy surgery on both his front legs to treat the recurring corns on his front paws. It has taken several months to diagnose the corns as the most probable cause of his intermittent lameness. During that time he has had numerous trips to vets, physios and other specialists, been put on intensive pain relief, during which time he was very unwell, had his exercise restricted and was finally referred for surgery.
Thanks to nimalcentre vets for undertaking surgery carefully and with minimal incision, which is already healing well. Fingers 🀞 that continues over the next week and he can regain his whippet bounce again...

The recent spring weather means we've been able to get on with the important job of muck spreading. It feels good to work with nature, recycling what the ponies produce daily to enrich the soil for our next hay crop - to be fed back to the ponies, ♻️ πŸ’© 🌾🐴 (sound on)
