Sad, sad times at Happy Dog HQ with the devastating news that our CEO and Boss Lady, Minnie, (aka Mins, Minnie Moo, Spinny Minnie, No Licky Minnie!) passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 30 July.
As the inspiration for my dog walking business, my right hand woman, my constant shadow and one of the two loves of my life, I am absolutely distraught at her passing.
Minnie ruled the roost at Happy Dog Central and despite being a bit aloof, she was vital to our interviewing process, sniff testing and approving all new intakes. Every day evolved around her needs and wishes and as such she was sassy, confident and did everything her way. Never walking through the rough or long grass but always sticking to the path she walked her own walk but never strayed too far from me. She loved to run and she loved to be loved, always finding a warm lap to sit on and always giving bundles of kisses to Mummy and Daddy whether they wanted them or not, often not being able to resist a sly lick or 10 after being told No Licky Minnie! What I wouldn’t give for one of those kisses now.
Cute as a button, she was devastatingly beautiful and forever youthful, despite her 11 3/4 years she was often mistaken for a puppy.
Although towards the end of her life she slept a lot more she was still very energetic, spinning around madly when I would return home earning the nickname Spinny Minnie. She would perch herself on the back of the sofa, looking out for someone to bark at and when I would open the door and greet her, she would often reward me with a smile, showing me all of the teeth she had left! She gave me that beautiful smile shortly before she passed.
It has been an absolute pleasure to be your Mummy, Minnie. I will miss you so, so much and I hope you have found Nan and Grandad up there and are making use of Grandad’s huge, warm lap until we meet again. Love you forever, my little girl ###
Enormous thanks to cardiologist, Thomas and all the team at House And Jackson Vets who kept Minnie going for five months longer than we thought we would have her for and gave us the time to organise a wedding where Minnie was our Maid of Honour 🤍
