🐾 Fun with the dogs this morning! 🐾
We’ve been working on waits and stays… with Ace taking on the very important role of chief distraction! 😂🐶
Because it’s one thing to stay when everything is quiet — it’s another when your friend is nearby making life much more interesting!
Lots of fun, focus and great choices from the dogs. 💗
And Ace? He took his role very seriously! 🤣🐾

🐾 WHEN YOUR DOG BRINGS YOU THEIR FAVOURITE TOY… 💗
It doesn’t necessarily mean:
“Take it!” “Throw it!” “Let’s play tug!”. Sometimes, that soft toy is something your dog finds comforting and valuable.

By bringing it over to you, they may simply be choosing to share something important with someone they trust. 💗

It can be their way of saying:
“I’m not giving you my toy. I’m showing you something that is important to me because I feel safe with you.” 🐶

So before automatically reaching out to take it, watch and listen to what your dog is communicating.
Do they keep hold of it? Turn their head away when you reach towards it? Move it away from your hand? Or simply settle beside you while holding it?
Respect that communication.
Sometimes they aren’t asking for a game at all.

✨ They may simply be seeking comfort, connection and the safety of being close to you.

Not everything our dogs bring us needs to be taken from them. Sometimes they just want us to appreciate what they’ve chosen to share. 🐾💗

🐾 A lovely session with Mika today 💗

Working on her balance, coordination and body awareness — keeping both her body and brain working together. 🧠🐾

She absolutely smashed it! 🌟💪

🐾 Ace has been putting his thinking cap on today! 🧠😂

We worked on a little self-control… although, to be fair, Ace is already rather good at that! 😇

Then we mixed things up with some stays, send aways and retrieves — keeping that clever brain busy and having plenty of fun along the way.

Ace clearly understood the assignment. ⭐🐾💗

Massage can be especially beneficial for senior dogs because ageing often brings changes in mobility, muscle condition, posture and comfort.

Gentle, appropriate massage may help to:

• 🐾 Ease muscular tension and stiffness, particularly after rest.

• 💗 Support healthy circulation, helping bring oxygen and nutrients to the tissues.

• 🦴 Maintain comfortable movement and flexibility as the body becomes less mobile.

• 💪 Support ageing muscles, which may lose strength and condition over time.

• 🌿 Encourage relaxation and help the nervous system move into a calmer state.

• 🐕 Support compensating areas — when one part of the body is uncomfortable, other muscles may work harder and become tense.

• 🤲 Increase body awareness, helping your dog feel more comfortable and confident in their movement.

• 🔎 Help you notice changes such as new areas of tension, sensitivity or changes in muscle tone.

• ❤️ Provide gentle, positive connection between you and your senior dog.

Massage isn't about trying to make an older dog young again. It's about supporting the body they have now — helping them stay comfortable, mobile and enjoying life for as long as possible.

Massage should always be adapted to the individual senior dog, particularly if they have an existing health condition, pain or mobility problem.

🐾 The group enjoying some social time together. 💗
Giving dogs the opportunity to spend time around one another in a relaxed, supportive environment helps them practise communication, build confidence and simply enjoy being together.

The very handsome Malcolm learning “Engage & Disengage” — building confidence, making positive choices and learning that he can notice what’s around him without needing to react. 🐾💚

Such a valuable skill, helping Malcolm to observe, process and then choose to disengage and reconnect with his guardian. 💗

Notice → Process → Disengage → Reconnect 🐕✨

A great session today, introducing our little dog group to some big, sociable dogs. 🐾💗

It was lovely to give the little dogs the opportunity to spend time around larger dogs in a calm, positive and supported environment.

It’s not about forcing interaction or making dogs say hello — it’s about helping them feel safe, giving them choices and allowing them to build confidence at their own pace. 🐶🐕✨

So proud of them all! 💚

😂 You know your students know you far too well when you say, “Everyone choose a different station to work at…” and they ALL head straight for the hoops and ask their dogs to sit in one! 🐶⭕️

Clearly I’m becoming very predictable! 😂

But I suppose it shows they’ve been listening… even if they weren’t quite listening to that instruction! 🤣🐾
