A little about me..

Alongside being Delilah’s mum and working full-time as a veterinary nurse, rescue work has always been a huge part of my life. I’ve been involved in animal rescue for just over five years now, helping to rehabilitate, nurse back to health, and rehome countless cats along the way. Some of you may already know me through adopting one of my foster cats over the years.

Today, while I was in London celebrating a family member’s birthday, I received a message about a cat urgently needing rescuing at a veterinary practice in London. This poor boy had a deadline hanging over him — if a rescue space wasn’t found by tomorrow morning, he was due to be euthanised.

Anyone who knows me personally will know there was absolutely no chance I was leaving London without him.

So, I immediately took a detour, headed straight to the vets, and collected him. Now named King Julian, he is finally safe and receiving the lifesaving veterinary treatment he should have had from the very beginning.

Despite everything, Julian was an absolute superstar on the long journey home. He didn’t make a peep — in fact, he even drifted off to sleep while I gently stroked his head.

Julian is a very poorly boy, and still has a long road to recovery, but for now he is safe, loved, and being given every chance possible. I can only hope and pray he continues to fight and makes a speedy recovery.

What a transformation she’s made! 🥹 From where she started to where she is now is incredible.
All of the fur on her front legs has grown back, her wounds have healed beautifully, and her paw pads have fully recovered. Sadly, the water was so hot that it completely burned away all of her nails. At the time, both the veterinary team and I believed she would likely be without nails for the rest of her life.

However, she has recently started showing some nail regrowth. As of today, she has two nails coming through—one on each front paw. We honestly didn’t expect to see any regrowth, so it’s been a nice surprise. We can’t say for certain whether she’ll only ever have these two nails or if more will grow back over time, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Unfortunately, her back legs were much more severely affected, and so far there are no signs of nail regrowth there. But nails or no nails, that certainly doesn’t stop her! She still proudly uses her scratch post, enthusiastically clawing away as though she has a full set of murder mittens to sharpen.

She continues to amaze us every single day. 🥹✨

Hi everyone,

My name is Shannan, and I’m the veterinary nurse and foster mum who helped care for Delilah throughout her recovery. Today, I’m incredibly proud to say that I’m also now her forever mum.

For those who have been following Delilah’s journey, or are just discovering her story, Delilah was rescued at just 12 weeks old after suffering horrific second-degree burns when she was dropped into scalding water. Against all odds, this brave little Ragdoll fought through immense pain, multiple procedures, and months of rehabilitation to get the second chance she deserved.

Just when we thought she was finally turning a corner, Delilah faced another life-threatening challenge: an intussusception. This is a serious condition where part of the intestine slides into itself, causing a dangerous blockage. She required emergency surgery to save her life, and without it, Delilah would not be here with us today.

Throughout every step of her journey, I have been overwhelmed by the love, kindness, and support shown to this remarkable little girl. Because of that, I decided to create this page—a place to share Delilah’s story and celebrate just how far she has come.

This page follows Delilah’s incredible journey of recovery, resilience, and unconditional love. As both her mum and a veterinary nurse, I’ve had the privilege of watching her transform from a frightened, critically injured kitten into the beautiful, happy, and mischievous little kitten she is today.

Here, you’ll find updates on Delilah’s progress, heartwarming moments and the everyday adventures of a truly extraordinary survivor.
