This week we’ve had an email from the APHA warning of active midge spread due to warmer weather and therefore increasing risk of BLUETONGUE VIRUS

We’ve had numerous farmers ordering and administering bluetongue vaccine recently. To discuss anything just give us a ring, we can help with implementing control programmes and advise about vaccinations.

The GOV websites give up to date information as well

Happy World Milk day 🥛

Before we miss the boat (balloon) 🎈 😅we wanted to take a moment to celebrate World Milk Day and the farmers we work with every day.

We’re proud to support and work alongside the people who keep this important industry moving forward.

Today is a reminder that behind every litre of milk are hard working, committed farmers and of course the cows producing all the milk 🐮

🐄 🥛 Here’s to happy, healthy cows, thriving farms and the future of dairy farming.

Bizarre! Trichobezoar!

This is the fancy term essentially to describe a hairball which accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract due to excessive licking.

This week’s interesting case was of bloat seen in a 3 month old calf, unfortunately despite treatment the animal sadly died.

These cases can be hard and frustrating to properly diagnose and manage. On post mortem a large hairball (pictured) was found in the abomasum which was causing abdominal impaction, bloat and the gut was not moving making the calf constipated.

Wouldn’t have been a proper bank holiday without a down caesar and melting away in a plastic waterproof.

Thankfully the sun was going down at this point and we were in a relatively shady spot 🥵

We didn’t post our opening times as we are ‘always open’ 😅

Yesterday we said bye to Georgie as she leaves for pastures new.

Georgie started with us as a new grad and has been great to have on the team for the last few years. You’ll be missed lots by the vets and the farmers I’m sure. We wish you all the best for the future and thanks for everything you’ve done.
