Dogs can struggle in warm weather, especially flat‑faced breeds, older dogs and puppies, to keep them safe:

Walk early morning or late evening

Avoid hot pavements

Offer plenty of fresh water

Never leave dogs in cars, even for a minute

All my walks are planned around the heat to keep dogs cool and happy.

Interesting walk this morning with The Little Pup Lodge when we encountered an adder in the path luckily the pups didn’t see it or interact with it.

With the warmer weather, these beautiful but venomous snakes are more active, especially in sunny spots. If you’re out with your dogs, keep them close and stick to clear paths to avoid any surprise encounters. Stay safe on your adventures.

Ticks thrive in long grass at this time of year, and dogs can pick them up without you noticing. After walks, look for:
* Small dark bumps on the skin
* Redness or irritation
* Ticks hiding in warm areas like ears, neck and armpits

🌾 Grass‑Seed Season Is here with the grass cutting starting again, those pesky grass seeds are back. They can easily work their way into your dog’s paws, ears and even under the skin.

After every walk, give your dog a quick check for:
•Redness between the toes
•Excessive licking of paws
•Limping or sudden discomfort

If you spot anything unusual, get it checked early — grass seeds can cause a lot of pain if left.
