This is Bussu, he's a really nervous dog as he was a stray. I've walked him a couple of times a week for a month now and with walks from his owner too he is starting to relax a little bit. I give him a cuddle before our walk then take him down the stairs and let him step outside when he is ready. I talk to him throughout the duration of our walks in a calm tone to make him feel safe and to calm him when loud noises or people scare him. I let him lead the way for the most part so he has a sense of freedom and doesn't feel restrained. Sometimes when he is spooked a lot he will stop walking and sit on the floor, I always respond with patience! I stroke his head to comfort him and then slowly start to walk forward to which he will follow eventually. I never pull him or shout at him. I always let him go at his own pace so he feels as safe as he possibly can. Hopefully by summer he will have come out of his shell a lot more and we'll be able to see what sort of personality he has!💙
