If your dog was struggling to breathe, cut their paw, or suddenly became unwell… would you know what to do before you reached the vet?

If you can’t confidently answer yes, this day is for you.

Nicole @ First Paw Forward, Head Veterinary Nurse with over 15 years of experience, will be teaching life saving skills including:

- CPR and how to manage emergencies calmly.
- Wound management and bandaging
- Triaging - how to make the right call under pressure
- Understanding and checking a dog’s vital signs
- Recognising life threatening conditions and symptoms

I’ll also be teaching you skills to help your dog feel more comfortable, confident, and cooperative in the vets and during handling including:

- How to prepare your dog at home for clinical settings
- Handling tips and techniques to reduce stress
- Reading your dog’s body language and how to help when they’re uncomfortable

For dog owners..
Emergencies can happen anywhere, at any time. Knowing what to do before reaching a vet could save your dog’s life!

For dog professionals..
Having these skills ensures you can act quickly, confidently, and safely in emergency situations. Our clients trust us with our dogs and keeping our skills up to date are essential!

These are skills no one wants to need, but everyone should have.

Message me to book your space.
Limited slots available!

So I don't comment a lot about the Veterinary sector openly anymore or even discuss it with clients when I get complaints about finances, I just as you say "..take it on the chin..".

Recently I came across this video that I thought...you know yeah, this sums up what is it like in veterinary pretty well so thought I would share this. Video by

The Last Battle...🥺💔🐾

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then will you do what must be done,
For this — the last battle — can’t be won.
You will be sad I understand,
But don’t let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.

We have had so many happy years,
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so.
When the time comes, please, let me go.
Take me to where to my needs they’ll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time you will agree
It is a kindness you do to me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Don’t grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do;
We’ve been so close — we two — these years,
Don’t let your heart hold any tears.
