👋 Welcome to our new followers & Happy New Year! 🎉

We’ve had lots of new faces join us recently, so we thought it was the perfect time to introduce ourselves properly 🐾

I’m Nikki, and with the help of my family I run Day Gill Farm Boarding, a home-from-home dog boarding and daycare services based on our rural farm near Bishop Auckland.

🌿 Where we’re based
We’re surrounded by countryside, woodland and farmland — a peaceful, calm environment that’s perfect for dogs who enjoy space, routine and lots of fresh air.

🐶 What we do
We offer:
• Home-style dog boarding and daycare
• Small numbers for individual attention
• 3 walks per day
• Plenty of family time and enrichment
• Calm, structured care tailored to each dog

With the busy holiday period and a very full diary, we’re currently a little behind on posting guest updates and highlights.
We’ll be catching up on posts following this, so if you spot your dog popping up over the coming days, that’s why!

🎄 A Christmas Thank You from Day Gill Farm 🎄

As we head into Christmas, I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to everyone who has trusted us with their dogs, for the kind words, recommendations, messages, and the thoughtful gifts — they truly mean more than you know.

We’ve only been open 6 months, and the support has been absolutely incredible. What started as a dream has already grown into something really special, and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s been part of that journey so far.

From our family to yours, Merry Christmas, and here’s to seeing where the adventure takes us in 2026 ✨🐾

Cadbury came to stay with us recently for her overnight trial and what an absolute pleasure she was to have around 🐶🤍
True to her name, she was an instant favourite here (after all… it is my favourite chocolate 🍫😄). Cadbury settled in beautifully, enjoyed plenty of exploring, pottering about with the other dogs 🐾 and making the most of life on the farm.
From outdoor adventures to relaxing indoors with cuddles and fuss 🛋️💞, she took everything in her stride and made herself right at home. A lovely first stay, full of waggy tails and happy moments — see you again soon, Cadbury! 🐕✨🍫

Rosie came to stay with us recently for her trial night and what an absolute pleasure she was to have around 🐶🤍
She loved running freely in the fields 🌾🐾 and had the best time exploring the woodland, taking everything in with so much curiosity 🌲🍃. Rosie settled in beautifully, was happy pottering about with the other dogs, and really enjoyed being part of the family routine.
From outdoor adventures to relaxing back indoors with fuss and cuddles 🛋️💞, she took everything in her stride and made herself right at home. A fantastic first stay and we’re already looking forward to welcoming her back — see you again soon, Rosie! ✨🐕

Bruce came to join us recently for his overnight trial and he did so well 🐾🤍
He was a little nervous when first meeting new people and new dogs, but that soon wore off. Before long he was confidently joining everyone for fun in the fields 🌾🐕 and soaking up plenty of cuddles on the sofa 🛋️💞
Such a lovely first stay and an absolute pleasure to have with us — see you again soon, Bruce! 🐶✨

So Henry has been staying with us while the builders tackle a big job at his house… and let’s just say the days keep getting added on (we all know how builders work! 😂🔨).

He’s had a few days here and there at home, but every time he comes back he’s exactly the same boy we know and love — happy, settled, and completely unfazed by the chaos going on around him. 🥰🐾

From day one he slotted right into farm life…
💛 tail always wagging
💛 loves being around the other dogs
💛 enjoys every walk, cuddle and treat
💛 and brings such a calm, sweet energy with him

Honestly, Henry is one of those dogs who just makes the place feel brighter. He’s an absolute pleasure to have around and we’re more than happy to keep him comfy here for as long as he needs while the work gets finished at home. 🏡❤️

🎉 Exciting News for Day Gill Farm Boarding! 🎉

I’m absolutely over the moon to share that I’ve now officially completed my Level 3 Daycare & Boarding Qualification with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (IMDT)
This qualification is Ofqual regulated.

This course has strengthened everything we already do here at Day Gill Farm — from canine welfare and enrichment to behaviour, safety, learning and professional standards.
It means even more knowledge, structure and care goes into every dog that stays with us, whether for boarding, or keeping-in-touch days.

Thank you to all of my amazing clients for supporting me while I juggled the course alongside a very busy few months on the farm. Your trust in me and your lovely dogs means everything 🖤🐾

Here’s to continuing to grow, learn and provide the very best home-from-home care on our 52-acre farm.
