A great walk on this Easter Sunday followed by coffee in the van, which pretty much makes my day. The sun is trying in between the showers. Little Ruby doesn’t care as long as she’s with me.

Gorgeous Moxie the is doing well on my return visit today. A few adjustments to enable her to sleep alone at night which are proving successful so far. She’s more relaxed and can cope when left alone at nights, so we’re all a lot happier. Maintaining the basic plan will help make this the new normal. Well done! 💯

Ruby on the left aged 7 and Doris aged 10 sitting pretty for me this morning. Doris had a tooth out last week and has made a quick recovery. Ruby is doing very well
and a wonderful companion.

In my work, I specialise in creating calm and happy pet dogs that can live alongside the family in harmony.

Most families just want life with their dog to feel easier and more joyful. They want relaxed walks without pulling, lunging or barking, quiet evenings where the dog settles happily, and kids playing without everything turning chaotic.
I help by focusing on emotional security for your dog and clear, kind communication. We work on the reasons behind anxiety, excitement overload, leash reactivity or constant restlessness. The aim isn’t endless commands or strict rules, it’s helping your dog feel safe and understood so good behaviour comes naturally.

I love watching the change: softer greetings, calmer energy around visitors, and families who can finally relax together at home.

If you’re craving that kind of peaceful connection with your dog, what’s the one thing that’s been tricky for you lately?

Have a great week all…

Teddy has now been able to sleep on his own without soiling his space at night or incessant barking for a week! A month of steady work on how he relates to members of the family and he is doing a great deal better. These improvements bring genuine relief to owners that endure broken nights. An anxious but lovely rescue that is being shown how to do things, for the first time in some areas. Learning to be left alone for sensible periods is one of them and he seems to have the hang of it. A case of making all these new behaviours the ‘new normal’ now through longer term reinforcement and support to the owner. The clip shows him sitting and working for a treat as I leave the home. Rest assured, there was a lot of barking just before this moment 😆

Hi all. I’m building a library of videos in the following playlist on YouTube and want to share it with you. The videos will loosely pertain to recent behaviour visits and relate to real-world behavioural advice based on compassionate processes and outcomes that last alongside ongoing support for the owner.
If you’d like a wee update on my outlook for 2026, check out the “Why I’m changing how I work” video first.
Please feel free to comment on the videos and subscribe along the way!
Thank you.

I do like to make a cake! I’m a bit behind, but this will be a traditional cake with marzipan and royal icing once finished.
Can I just take this moment to stop and say thank you to you all for your interactions and connection this year. This page has always been a calm and civilised place to swap ideas and show you what I’m up to along the way, and long may that continue.
I have some interesting ideas that I’ll be working on in 2026 as I purposefully do less expert witness work (assessing dogs for breed types and behavioural standards basically) and focus more on helping local domestic dog behaviour cases, which is how and where it all started and remains a passion. You’ll be the first to know when these ideas are ready!
Christmas means different things to different people, but a common thread is the desire to be with friends, family and the people we love. I hope you can do that, and in any event have a peaceful Christmas and that 2026 brings us all that we wish for ourselves and others.
I’m never far away if you need anything.
Nick

A shocking story that highlights the spectrum of how people can be in their actions. Well done to Mr Griffiths, that must have been quite a spot to find yourself in. I wonder if the lead remained on the dog throughout, possibly not given that it states that he held the dog until police and was able to get his muzzle back on? The muzzle suggests that the dog was either already registered as an XL Bully and following that standard condition, or that the dog was known to be aggressive to dogs or people, or both.

Martin Griffiths grabbed the dog and held it down until police arrived in Wrexham city centre.

My patience paid off with an unforgettable otter encounter yesterday! It swam straight at me underwater, gudgeon lunch in mouth, leaving a trail in its wake. Downwind and zoomed in at 900mm, I snapped away as it devoured its catch on the rocks. Thrilling!
