Being ever so slightly obsessed with canine enrichment, I've just finished reading this fascinating book by Shay Kelly.

It's full of information about enriching our dogs' lives, from Why? to How? It's backed up with science yet written in a conversational tone which is easy to access.

He's right when he says it's "the book your dog needs you to read".

Betsy's puppies, at 6 weeks old, foraging for their food. They enjoyed this hugely, using their natural hunting behaviours while learning that there was no need for resource guarding. Clever little puppies.

This was simply a sofa throw with tiny chunks of cooked chicken tossed over. After several sessions of this, we tossed the chicken, then grabbed the centre of the throw and twisted it into a huge loose spiral, for an extra challenge. Puppies who are given opportunities to problem solve and achieve success in their early days are more likely to be even more inquisitive and ready to face the numerous challenges of our human world.
