A tribute to a soul like no other:
​Luna was a Doberman who lived life at "full throttle." Born with a heart condition, she didn’t have the gift of time, but she certainly had the gift of spirit. She was 100 miles an hour of pure joy—a "cheeky and crazy" squirrel-chaser who only slowed down for a patch of warm sun or the glow of a fireplace.
​Luna is no longer with us, but capturing her spirit in this commission was a true honor. To recreate her "iridescent" coat in the late summer sun, I used nearly 90 different colours, layering every detail of the dog who had the sky on her face and the stars in her eyes.
​The reaction from her family is exactly why I do what I do:
​"My goodness, she is truly beautiful. You have done the most amazing job... thank you from the bottom of our hearts, we have our Luna back forever. ❤️"
​Rest easy, Luna. You truly were a real pleasure to draw.

Adding the layers to build up the colour and texture of the fur.
Pastel mat is such a beatiful surface to draw on, it enables layer after layer to be applied giving rich vibrant colours as well as allowing for deep detail.
