Jon qualified from Bristol University in 2001 and returned to his home county of Norfolk to work in a mixed practice in Dereham for thirteen years. Dealing with all aspects of Veterinary surgery on patients from horses to hamsters gave him the best grounding and allowed him to develop his interest and skills in small animal medicine and surgery.
From 2014 he subsequently co-developed a new small animal practice in Swaffham where he was a Director and Senior Vet until taking a step back from administrative roles in 2023 to concentrate on clinical work.
With almost 25 years in first opinion practice Jon has a wealth of experience in helping the pets of Norfolk.
Outside of Veterinary practice Jon has a busy family life and when he finds time is an obsessed angler and can be found around a lake trying to catch some of the region's biggest carp.

***BIG NEWS!!!! JON MILLS IS JOINING US AT THE MAYERS VETERINARY CLINIC- HE STARTS MONDAY****

Jon brings a massive wealth of experience and expertise to the team- I saw work experience with Jon at Larwood and Kennedy when I was a student and we’re very honoured to have him joining us on Mondays and Tuesdays!

A little secret blue button on the planter trough….. if you would like us to come and help you from the car- just press and we’ll be out in a jiffy…. Or if you’d just like to press it to see how fast we run out to the car park, that would be funny too!

One of our Veterinary Nurses is running the London Marathon! 🏃‍♂️

Some of you may recognise Jack who is one of our RVNs who helps out at the clinic now and again!

Jack is running the London Marathon for the charity Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital Charity who saved his nieces life when she was less than a month old by performing intricate life saving open heart surgery!

He has just 4 weeks left till he takes on the enormous challenge of 26.2 miles!

If anyone would like to donate to his charity fundraising page he’d be very appreciative! Also for every donation given the donor is entered into a draw to win a bottle of champagne 🍾

Here is Remi, the amazing Maine C**n cat. He is HUGE and comes to the surgery on a lead. We learnt a few things about the breed today, they originate from Maine in North America and legend has it, are the off spring of a cat and a raccoon…… although we’re not sure that would play out genetically. Awesome breed, and Remi is such a lovely chap!
