The groundwork-based programmes builds self-awareness, emotional awareness, trust through connection, and present-moment interaction with the horse. I work as an Inclusion Practitioner with 20+ years’ experience supporting children, young people aged 5–19 and their families through education. I specialise in Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, PDA, anxiety, SEMH, EBSA and more. I have always been
perceptive and responsive to the needs of young people and supporting them by building their resilience and developing their confidence. After my son was diagnosed with ASC and Sensory Processing Disorder, I realised how much he struggled to just 'be'. My son's first encounter with a horse was heart-warming, after five minutes of just being with the horse- feeling its coat, its breath on the back of his hands, observing the detail in its eyes - my son regulated and calmed. That moment was the turning point for me I knew I wanted to help other young people. It showed me the powerful, grounding connection between horses and humans, especially for young people and how working therapeutically with horses in Equine Assisted Learning combining an alternative learning approach can help them flourish and by supporting young people to survive and thrive to reach their own goals is what I feel most passionate about. Alongside my school work, I'm a practitioner at another equine facility, holding sessions with young people affected by trauma, cancer and neurodiversity. I hold qualifications in SEN, Mental health, Equine Psychology, and Handling and Managing horses in Equine-Assisted Learning. My DBS and safeguarding training are updated yearly, and I’m fully licensed (LN/202400601) with WCC.
