I’ve been off the past two days to enjoy my own pony.

Here we are finishing second overall at Associated Champs at Elementary in the Thoroughbred championships.

It’s been a tough year with him being in and out of the vets with different issues so this really made me super happy.

Day one at regionals! 💙 it was so nice to present prizes to Greg and Lenny from in the gold section of our Inter I class. He was a close second behind Sarah Rao and Geniaal who took the ticket. The silver section was won by Rhiannon Hinton on Quaikin Horatio.

Day two brings prelim and elementary at both sections and I’m looking forward to catching up with lots of familiar names.

Let’s talk barefoot…… 👣

I speak to a lot of clients who want to avoid certain ingredients as thier horse is barefoot and certain groups advise against it.

I’ll just say this….. these are the feet of my barefoot thoroughbred. He has a diet that contains Soya, Alfalfa and sugar beet, it’s a low starch diet because of his breeding/previous life, not because of his feet.

He has a balanced diet (Saracen Horse Feeds ReLeve Mix) and an additional hoof supplement (Kentucky Equine Research BioBloom) and his feet look great.

These are freshly trimmed this morning but he’s been hacking on the roads and they still stand up to the work.

Don’t get sucked into avoiding certain feeds for your barefoot horse, a balanced diet with quality protein will do much more for your hoof growth than you can be led to believe.
