Sorry it’s been a little while since we last posted 🫶 The recent Norfolk heatwaves have made things a bit tricky with our runner ducks. 🦆 The high temperatures don’t just affect the incubators (eggs are really sensitive to heat, which lowers hatch rates), but the ducks themselves also slow down laying when it’s this hot. They simply don’t feel like producing in this kind of weather, and honestly, who can blame them in 30°C+? 🥵
We’ve been spending lots of time checking on them, keeping water topped up, making shade, and doing everything we can to help them through the worst of it. It’s a real reminder of how much the seasons and the weather can impact their rhythm.
Still, we’re staying hopeful 💛 As the weather evens out, laying should pick back up and we’ll see stronger hatches again. Thank you so much for bearing with us while it’s been a little quieter on here — your support and kind words always mean the world 🌱✨
