Can anyone give the gorgeous Cassius a home?
Older children only. Not great with other dogs when in a lead. Needs an active home.

Pudding and her pals would like to ask for your help - they are dangerously low on wet dog food and worried that supplies might run out! 🐾

Their favourite brands are Butchers, Forthglade, Wainwrights and James Wellbeloved (or similar wet foods in trays) but in situations like these they can't afford to be too fussy so would be grateful for anything you can spare.

If you are passing the Shelter and would like to drop off a donation, the car park is open 8am to 6pm weekdays and 8am to 4pm on weekends, where there is a donations shed outside reception. Please put donations in the right-hand shed (labelled donations for rescue animals), not the pet food bank.

Alternatively, our delivery address is Cheltenham Animal Shelter, Gardners Lane, Cheltenham, GL51 9JW.

Thank you from the team and all the dogs at the Shelter 🙏

Grass seed warning ⚠️🌱

Do you know the dangers that grass seeds can cause? Their tiny arrowheads attach onto dogs - particularly breeds with longer fur. They can pe*****te their way into the skin, causing harmful injuries that could potentially require surgery.

Always check your dog's fur thoroughly after woodland walks or running through meadows. Monitor their behaviour by keeping an eye out for the warning signs of grass seeds - this could be head shaking, limping, coughing, sneezing, paw licking and lethargy.

If you spot a grass seed, gently remove it with your hands or tweezers - if its burrowed deeper (sometimes you may not even see it!), take your dog to the vet immediately.

Here's a fun little fact about our furry pals: while dogs can devour just about anything, there are certain foods that can turn them from happy pups into not-so-happy campers! 🚫🍫

Take grapes, for instance. You might think they're a healthy snack, but they're actually a big no-no for dogs. Just a handful can lead to kidney failure! 😱 And don’t get me started on chocolate—because, let’s be real, if dogs could have a sweet tooth, chocolate would be their first choice! 🍫 But it’s a serious danger.

Xylitol, often found in sugar-free gum and some peanut butter, is another sneaky ingredient that can wreak havoc on a dog’s health. It drops their blood sugar and can lead to liver failure! Yikes!

So, next time you're enjoying a snack, remember to keep those toxic foods away from your pup. They may give you those puppy-dog eyes, but trust me, it’s better to stick to doggie treats. 🥳🍖 Let’s keep our furry friends safe and sound!

Can you believe we've had Ron since he was a tiny puppy? ❤️

At just 6 months old, Ron is a beautiful Shar Pei x Rottweiler with the gentlest soul and the kindest eyes. But despite his loving nature, he’s being overlooked.

Why is he still with us?
Because he’s a black dog.
Because he’s a “big breed.”
Because he doesn’t fit the mould of what some see as “desirable.”

But to us? Ron is perfect.

He loves his walks, adores belly rubs, and just wants someone to love him back. This special boy deserves a home — not because it’s a special awareness day, but because every day he waits is one too many.

Let’s change the story for Ron.
Share his post. Talk about . And help us find this boy the forever home he so deserves.
