Grief doesn’t always wait for goodbye.
Anticipatory grief is the sadness and worry we feel before a loss — when we know goodbye is coming, but it hasn’t arrived yet.

It’s completely normal to feel emotional, confused, or even guilty in these moments.

You are not grieving “too early.”
You are simply loving deeply.

You never need to apologise for grieving your pet.
Not for the tears.
Not for the heartbreak.
Not at the euthanasia appointment — and not after.

I hear apologies so often at appointments, and I want you to know: it’s just not necessary.
Your grief is love in its rawest, most honest form — and there’s nothing shameful about that.
