✨🐾EDUCATIONAL✨🐾 Meet Xena the Cockapoo! 🐾✨

Sweet Xena came in today with some heavy matting in her coat. While she’s now feeling fresh and fabulous after her groom, we wanted to take a moment to share why matting is more than just a “bad hair day” for dogs.

🔎 What are mats?
Mats are clumps of tangled hair that tighten close to the skin. They’re common in breeds like Cockapoos, Doodles, and other curly or long-coated pups if brushing and maintenance are missed.

⚠️ Why are mats a problem?
• They pull painfully on the skin, a bit like having your hair tied too tight.
• Mats trap dirt, moisture, and even parasites against the skin, leading to irritation or infection.
• Severe matting can restrict movement and circulation.
• Grooming a matted coat often requires shaving the hair short for the dog’s comfort and safety.

💡 Prevention tips:
• Brush your dog regularly at home, focusing on friction areas (behind the ears, under the arms, legs, and tail).
• Use a slicker brush + comb to check you’re getting all the way down to the skin.
• Schedule regular grooming appointments to keep their coat manageable and healthy.

Xena is now mat-free, comfy, and so much happier! 🐶💕 Regular upkeep is the key to keeping your pup’s coat both beautiful and healthy.

🧸✨ Teddy by name, teddy bear by look AND personality! This handsome Goldendoodle was the sweetest floof today — gentle, goofy, and an absolute heart-melter 💛 We gave him a fresh trim to keep that cuddle-ready look, and he totally rocked it 🐶✂️
