Rubis Stud

Rubis Stud Elevage/Stud dans le Poitou Charentes en France - Breeders of Welsh Section B Ponies & Sport Horses Breeders of Pure Race Espagnole horses.

Top PRE Stud & purebred Spanish horse breeder (Pura Raza Española/Andalusian) based in the Nouvelle Aquitane (Poitou Charentes) region in France. Over the last few years we have worked towards selecting reproductive stock that will help us to produce the PRE horse that we are aiming for - retaining the traditional features of the breed, with very correct morphology, train-ability and with movement

s that will enable them to be successful in mainstream dressage competitions. Our aim is to breed for excellence - the prices of our foals and horses reflect our investments we have made into the best foundation stock that we have to breed with, our vision to produce PRE horses of a very high quality and our time and passion devoted to every last detail - the care, management, correct paperwork etc. The way we keep our horses is extremely important to us and is essential to their health as we want them to grow up in safe surroundings, following a very necessary health program of vaccinations, wormers and regular health checks by our vets. We are looking to produce a horse in between the very old, small traditional PRE and the modern day lighter sport type. We are passionate about the horses that we produce.
With years of experience competing successfully in many equestrian disciplines and qualifications for instruction (BHS Int SM and NVQ Assessment), a chance ride on a beautiful PRE stallion during instruction in classical dressage ignited the passion that led us to start breeding these amazing horses. Now we combine decades of experience and horsemanship with a never-ending dream to develop and produce top quality horses. After the selection process and the arrival of our foals, we are responsible for their handling, until they are at least 6 months old and often after that, depending on when they will go to their new homes. We want to give our horses the best understanding and education that is possible, so that we know they will be well equipped to cope with and understand life in their new homes.

Our proven methods ensure that our horses all have a solid foundation of good handling and an optimum learning capacity to go forward with, whatever their age. Each one of us here at Villeneuve works in the same way with the horses - through a lifetime of experience but also natural empathy, we are able to adapt to work with every individual character. Villeneuve Andalusians - "Breeding for quality and excellence - its not just any PRE horse - its a Villeneuve PRE horse - experience the difference"

Not a Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 outing today - at the OCEM Poitiers, but, the first competition of 2026
"Golden Boy" tried his heart out - as he always does, going clear in Prépa 90, and then jumping a super round in the Amateur 3 Grand Prix, to get the very last fence down, but we couldn't be more pleased with him! He wasn't bred to showjump - but it goes to show that natural aptitude, willingness etc, combined with good , correct training - anything is possible 💪
On the welsh side - what a year 2026 has been already! It really is the "Year of the Horse", can't wait to present the ponies in the shows, and to see some of the great plans come to fruition!

Conformation - here the examples given are of thoroughbreds and years spent at the bloodstock sales certainly taught us an eye for faults, weaknesses - and also for good, strong conformation in the horses and ponies.
Why is it so important - in every breed? Because without good conformation, there are flaws that can hinder perfomance. In the reproductor, mare or stallion, we aim to first get near perfection in the conformation, but also conformation that is then specific to the breed (whilst never accepting weakness.
We have been guilty though, of ignoring faults in the beginning, "kidding" ourselves, trying to make excuses for flaws in youngsters, saying "they will grow out of it - but the truth is, from a foal, it is possible to see defects and no, they don't usually grow out of them. When I see horses and ponies with bad flaws and defects, that are being used or intended for breeding, I ask myself, does the owner know they have bad conformation and intend to breed anyway? Or are they just unaware and cannot spot the defects?
No horse/pony (or person!) is perfect - and slight imperfections that will not have a detrimental affect of future performance and soundness can be tolerated, but it seems to me, that too many serious faults are being overlooked, by owners, judges etc, and that is worrying for the future prodgeny in every breed.

🌧☔️ An extremely wet morning in OCEM Poitiers today!
"Golden Boy" jumped 2 lovely clear rounds, 1st in Prépa 90 and then in Amateur 3 Grand Prix.
He hasn't been out showjumping in over a year, so very pleased with him 🥰

Dressage outing today - 🥇place in Amateur 3 Preliminaire with 71% - only his 2nd time doing this test. His "hanches en dedans en demi circle" (I personally would call that a demi pirouette 🤣) was so much better this time 💪. He got some 9's so we were really happy with that!
First time at Amateur 3 Grand Prix, - he was beginning to get tired but he got some 7s and 8s so that is a great start there!!

A great start to the 2025/2026 competition season for Easy Rider at the National Welsh !
🏆 Reserve Champion Open Ridden/Welsh Performance - the consistent work and core strengthening "yoga" he has been doing over the last few months has resulted in a much better frame and ability for true self carriage from him.
Now onto more competitions in a variety of different disciplines over the next few months.

Our Story

The Pure Race Espagnole (PRE), one of the most ancient breeds of horse in the world and the foundation of many other breeds of horse. Situated in the Poitou Charentes in France, our horses have been carefully selected from some of the best breeders in Spain - for their temperament, morphology and their true characteristics to the breed standard.

With years of experience in many equestrian fields (show-jumping, racing, hunting) and qualifications for instruction (BHS Int SM and NVQ Assessment), a chance ride on a beautiful PRE stallion during instruction in classical dressage ignited the passion that led us to start breeding these amazing horses. Now we combine decades of experience and horsemanship with a never-ending dream to develop and produce top quality horses.

Over the last few years we have worked towards selecting reproductive stock that represents the true to type , traditional PRE - with baroque characteristics, functionality and correct morphological features. Our stallions have the movement, the morphology and the type that make them an ideal choice for our mares.
