Between sickly dog, heatwaves, dental emergencies (that’s not over yet) and an administrative visit to Paris… not mentioning weekly physio sessions, sewing has been really slow last month but I’m trying to get back to my normal rhythm.

The turnover time is still quite long at the moment because I have clothes to alter I haven’t been able to work on last month. Being in excruciating pain and performing detailed work don’t mix very well as you can imagine.

But now for some good news, I’m hoping there won’t be any closures in August and I’ll be able to carry on working. Check here for updates, of course I’ll continue replying to messages. It might not be instant and out of hours because I do need daytime light to work.

Thank you for your understanding and your continued trust in my skills to change your outfits so you can carry on loving them for longer.

That was me today trying to message a client that her clothes were ready for pick up as we agreed.

Both Facebook and messenger had a glitch and weren’t working.

That’s why I ask for your phone number and address because in worst case scenario I can send a snail mail letter. There is a good reason why I ask for all of your details, I’m not trying to be a nuisance.

I managed to message the client and she was able to come over without either of us waiting for technology to be restored.

Every time a client wants just a little alternation…

Yes, it will look as it nothing ever happened but it takes hours to unpick and sew everything together in the right size.

It usually is faster to sew from scratch, but what can you do if the dress or skirt is the absolute favourite or has sentimental value…

1. I’m redecorating my library/gym/atelier. It will be a more comfortable space soon. The mirror is already there.

2. Due to so many scam calls, I’ve enabled unknown number silencing on my phone. If you need me, send me a message on here or sms or WhatsApp if you have my number already. I’m not going to share my number here, I’m trying to limit the scam calls. I might be one of the few people who actually reply to messages in very short time (there might be the odd one I’ve missed if FB decided not to notify me, but it’s rare).

3. Tante Marta Atelier is open by appointment only. I’m flexible with timings (you can come in the evening if you’re working) but you need an appointment first. Please don’t just show up, I might not be in and you’ll be wasting your precious time. I might have a medical appointment or I’ll be out walking my dog. And just a fun fact, I do need uninterrupted time to work on the sewing alternations and knitwear designs.
