Colour Matching Guide
At Horse Hair Extensions, every piece is lovingly handcrafted to order using the finest horse hair. Because each extension is made especially for you, we want to make sure you get the perfect colour match before we begin — so please take a moment to read through this guide carefully.
How to Choose the Right Colour ( if photos are required)
1. Photograph Your Horse's Hair in Natural Light
The most common cause of colour mismatch is photography in artificial or indoor lighting. For the most accurate colour comparison:
1.Take photos outdoors in natural daylight (avoid direct harsh sunlight)
Photograph the mane, tail, or the area where the extension will be placed
Take multiple photos from different angles
Avoid using filters or editing the photos
2. Compare Against Our Colour Swatches
Browse our colour options carefully and compare your photos against our swatch images. If you are unsure between two shades, you may need a custom blend so refer back to number 1. above as this photos will be sent to us.
3. If choosing a clip in mane extensions and once yours has arrived and you're not quite happy with the match don't despair.
Photo the areas using the tips from section 1. Send us the picture and we will do our utmost to help you. Sometimes you may need to either send it back to be adjusted or purchase some additional pre tipped bonds to scatter around the clip in to soften any shade discrepancies.
Remember this is a naturel product and the hair does not arrive to us from the same horse, so tail and mane hair even if purchased as the same shade can be slightly different. If your purchases are weeks or months apart our batch may be new and can differ from the old batch, so make sure you purchase enough in the beginning and dont wait weeks to buy more of needed.
We will soon be offering a bespoke service to make sure that if a mane and tail are purchased together then you can request they be custom made to match each other.
Our No-Returns Policy
Because every extension is handcrafted to order specifically for you, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges. Each piece takes considerable time and skill to create, and once made, it cannot be resold.
We take colour matching very seriously and provide this guide, along with personal advice upon request, to help ensure you are completely happy with your choice before we begin making your order.
By placing an order, you confirm that you have read this colour guide and are satisfied with your colour selection. We strongly encourage you to reach out to us with any questions before ordering — we are always happy to help.
Thank you for understanding, and for supporting a small handmade business. We put our heart into every piece we create.
