Girls took a walk by the lake and ate a lot of treats to celebrate.

Bitsy had a few teeth removed yesterday so she spent the day sleeping.

During her first ever tooth cleaning at age 9 they discovered a broken tooth and two others that were compromised by parodontitis and needed removing, no biggie. She's always had such clean and healthy teeth that it wasn't necessary to put her through the procedure until now.

We're used to this, though, as Sora has had a total of 11 teeth removed because of parodontitis. I say this to underline the fact that even if you can't see anything wrong in your pet's mouth, regular x-rays and cleaning should still be done in order to detect the problems that lie under the surface. Sora's mouth has always had a foul smell no matter what she ate even though the teeth were clean. X-rays then revealed a lot of parodontitis changes and now...her mouth smells like roses! I'm kidding...but it doesn't smell bad anymore :)

The lesson: take your dog to get their teeth checked yearly, at least 👏
