Today, Pepa is celebrating her 11th birthday.
Pepa arrived with us in July 2016, which means she has now spent 10 years in our kennels. We always hoped that one day this beautiful girl would find her forever family, but we have come to accept that she will most likely spend the rest of her life with us.
Over the years, Pepa has been through so much. She has battled skin, eye, and ear problems, undergone countless blood tests.She tested positive for Leishmania, but the condition is now well under control. She had a tumour removed, and received anti-cancer treatment. Now, she is due to have x-rays after developing a limp.
Our gorgeous girl is looking a little more worn these days, but to us she will always be our princess. We are committed to giving her all the love, comfort, and care she deserves, and we will continue to make every day as happy and special as possible for her.
Happy 11th Birthday, Pepa.

Hoy, Pepa celebra su 11.º cumpleaños.
Pepa llegó a nuestras instalaciones en julio de 2016, lo que significa que ya lleva 10 años en nuestra perrera. Siempre hemos tenido la esperanza de que, algún día, esta preciosa perrita encontrara una familia definitiva, pero hemos acabado por aceptar que lo más probable es que pase el resto de su vida con nosotros.
A lo largo de los años, Pepa ha pasado por muchas cosas. Ha luchado contra problemas de piel, ojos y oídos, se ha sometido a innumerables análisis de sangre. Dio positivo en leishmaniosis, pero la enfermedad está ahora bien controlada. A ella le han extirpado un tumor y ha recibido tratamiento contra el cáncer. Ahora le van a hacer radiografías porque ha empezado a cojear.
Nuestra preciosa perrita parece un poco más cansada últimamente, pero para nosotros siempre será nuestra princesa. Nos comprometemos a darle todo el amor, el consuelo y los cuidados que se merece, y seguiremos haciendo que cada día sea lo más feliz y especial posible para ella.

Poor Timmy was found in an appalling condition. His skin is extremely flaky across his body, head, and ears, and he has painful ulcerations around his eyes, ears, and nose. It is clear that this sweet boy has been suffering for quite some time.
His symptoms could be consistent with pemphigus, an autoimmune skin disease, but they may also indicate leishmaniosis. Another sign is his severely overgrown nails, which are often associated with leishmaniosis. We have taken blood samples and are now awaiting the results so that we can begin the most appropriate treatment as soon as possible.
For now, Timmy is receiving regular baths to help soothe his sore skin and bring him some much-needed relief. Despite everything, he is a happy, gentle boy who greets us with a wagging tail whenever he sees you.
We are hopeful that, with the right treatment and lots of love, this gorgeous boy will soon be looking and feeling much better.

El pobre Timmy fue encontrado en un estado lamentable. Tiene la piel extremadamente escamosa en todo el cuerpo, la cabeza y las orejas, y presenta ulceraciones dolorosas alrededor de los ojos, las orejas y la nariz. Está claro que este dulce perrito lleva bastante tiempo sufriendo.
Sus síntomas podrían ser compatibles con el pénfigo, una enfermedad cutánea autoinmune, pero también podrían indicar leishmaniosis. Otro indicio son sus uñas muy largas, algo que suele asociarse a la leishmaniosis. Le hemos tomado muestras de sangre y ahora estamos a la espera de los resultados para poder comenzar el tratamiento más adecuado lo antes posible.
Por ahora, a Timmy le estamos dando baños regulares para ayudar a calmar su piel irritada y proporcionarle un alivio muy necesario. A pesar de todo, es un perro feliz y dócil que nos saluda moviendo la cola cada vez que nos ve.
Tenemos la esperanza de que, con el tratamiento adecuado y mucho cariño, este precioso perro pronto se vea y se sienta mucho mejor.

Help us find Brockman his forever home.
Gorgeous, lively Brockman has been with us since he was just 8 weeks old, arriving at the kennels back in December 2022. He is ow, at 3 years and 9 months old, he’s grown into a stunning young dog full of personality. We’d love nothing more than to see him finally enjoy a family of his own. He really would make a fun and entertaining member, for the right family. He also adores his paddling pool, rain or shine—you’ll often catch him happily splashing about!
He weighs around 24 kilos and like all our adult dogs is fully vaccinated with passport, microchipped, neutered, blood tested, treated monthly for fleas and ticks, wormed and heartworm prevention. Precioso y vivaracho Brockman, lleva con nosotros en desde que tenía sólo 8 semanas, cuando llegó en diciembre de 2022. Ahora, a sus 3 años y 9 meses de edad, se ha convertido en un impresionante perro joven lleno de personalidad. Nada nos gustaría más que para verle disfrutar por fin de su propia familia. Molly is the star of August in the SAT 2026 calendar.

When Molly arrived, like all dogs arriving at the kennels, she was blood tested for Mediterranean diseases—and sadly, she tested positive for Heartworm. This meant undergoing a course of medication, including some tough injections to eliminate the worms, followed by close monitoring for any reactions to the injections or as the worms died off.
After completing the treatment, Molly was retested, and we were delighted to find the result was negative—she was officially Heartworm-free! At nine years old, she was now ready to find her forever home. She was initially reserved, but due to unforeseen circumstances her new family had to withdraw, leaving her once again waiting for adoption.
As it turned out, this may have been fate. Molly was adopted by a wonderful couple who are long-time supporters of SAT. Having recently lost their previous SAT dog, they felt it was time to welcome another companion into their lives—and they found exactly what they were looking for in Molly. This sweet little girl is now living her best life, cherished and adored by her new family.

Thanks to your support and for purchasing the SAT Calendar, it enabled us to provide Molly receive all the medical treatment she needed, giving her the chance to enjoy the happy ending she so richly deserved.

Molly es la protagonista del calendario de SAT del mes de agosto.

Cuando Molly llegó, como todos los perros que llegan a la perrera, le hicieron un análisis de sangre para detectar enfermedades mediterráneas y, lamentablemente, dio positivo en filariasis cardíaca. Esto significaba someterse a un tratamiento con medicamentos, que incluía algunas inyecciones fuertes para eliminar los gusanos, seguido de un estrecho seguimiento para detectar cualquier reacción a las inyecciones o a medida que los gusanos morían.
Tras completar el tratamiento, se le volvió a hacer la prueba a Molly y nos alegró mucho comprobar que el resultado era negativo: ¡estaba oficialmente libre de gusanos del corazón! A sus nueve años, ya estaba lista para encontrar un hogar definitivo. Estaba reservada, pero debido a circunstancias imprevistas, su nueva familia tuvo que retirarse, dejándola una vez más a la espera de ser adoptada.
Al final, puede que haya sido el destino. Molly fue adoptada por una pareja maravillosa que lleva mucho tiempo apoyando a SAT. Habían perdido recientemente a su anterior perro de SAT, así que pensaron que era el momento de dar la bienvenida a otro compañero a sus vidas… y encontraron exactamente lo que buscaban en Molly. Esta dulce perrita disfruta ahora de una vida maravillosa, querida y adorada por su nueva familia.

Every month, one of the essential jobs at SAT is making sure every dog is protected against ticks and fleas.
Most of our dogs receive a pipette treatment, while others are given alternative products because of sensitive skin, allergies, or previous reactions. Every dog is different, so we always choose the treatment that best suits their individual needs.
Ticks and fleas are more than just a nuisance. They can cause discomfort, skin irritation, allergic reactions, and can transmit serious diseases such as Ehrlichia, Anaplasma and Babesia. Regular parasite prevention is essential to keep our dogs healthy, comfortable, and happy.
Providing these treatments to every dog in our care every month is a significant cost, but thanks to your ongoing support and donations, we can continue giving every dog the care and protection they deserve.
Because of you, our dogs can stay healthy, comfortable and ready for the day they find their forever homes. Thank you for helping us make that possible.

Cada mes, una de las tareas más importantes en SAT es proteger a todos nuestros perros frente a garrapatas y pulgas.

La mayoría reciben una pipeta antiparasitaria, mientras que otros necesitan tratamientos diferentes debido a problemas de piel, alergias o reacciones anteriores. Cada perro es único, por eso siempre utilizamos el tratamiento más adecuado para sus necesidades.

Las garrapatas y las pulgas son mucho más que una molestia. Pueden causar irritaciones, alergias y transmitir enfermedades graves como la ehrlichiosis, la anaplasmosis o la babesiosis. Por eso, la prevención mensual es una parte fundamental de los cuidados que reciben nuestros perros.

Mantener protegidos a todos los perros del refugio supone un gasto importante cada mes, pero gracias a vuestro apoyo y vuestras donaciones podemos seguir ofreciéndoles la atención y la protección que se merecen.

What fantastic news!
After spending 2 years, 7 months, and 28 days with us, Lucky Dos has finally been adopted. We couldn’t be happier for this gorgeous boy, who at 11½ years old has proven that it’s never too late for a happy ending.
Thank you to his new family for giving this wonderful senior boy the loving home he deserves.

Keon arrived with 13 other dogs from extremely difficult circumstances. He had little experience of human contact and was frightened and unsure. Just a few weeks later, Keon was a different boy. He is one of the most confident of the other dogs but is still a little nervous of new people. He is very cheeky and loves to play with his kennel mates.
Keon has tested positive for so currently takes an inexpensive treatment to control that. We are happy to discuss Keon further, if you are interested.

Keon is around 2.5 years old and like all our adult dogs, he is fully vaccinated with a passport, is microchipped, sterilized, bloodtested and takes treatment for fleas and ticks, is dewormed and on Heartworm prevention. Keon llegó junto con otros 13 perros procedentes de circunstancias extremadamente difíciles. Tenía muy poca experiencia en el contacto con personas y se mostraba asustado e inseguro. Solo unas semanas después, Keon era otro perro. Es uno de los más seguros de sí mismo de entre los demás perros, aunque todavía se pone un poco nervioso con la gente nueva. Es muy travieso y le encanta jugar con sus compañeros de perrera.
Keon ha dado positivo en las pruebas, por lo que actualmente sigue un tratamiento económico para controlarlo. Estaremos encantados de darte más información sobre Keon si estás interesado.

Keon tiene unos 2,5 años y, al igual que todos nuestros perros adultos, está completamente vacunado y tiene pasaporte, lleva microchip, está castrado, se le han realizado análisis de sangre y recibe tratamiento contra pulgas y garrapatas, está desparasitado y toma profilaxis contra la dirofilariosis. Ra originally came to the kennels with his brother in Dolores in 2020, after their previous owners could no longer care for them. In April 2021, Ra was adopted and settled beautifully into his new life alongside his new friend, Rayo.
Sadly, both dogs have been brought to us following the death of their owner in 2025.

We were so pleased when Ra was adopted, and as you can see from the photos he has settled in so well and enjoying the home life again and his new special friend.

Ra llegó al refugio junto con su hermano a Dolores en 2020, después de que sus antiguos dueños ya no pudieran hacerse cargo de ellos. En abril de 2021, Ra fue adoptado y se adaptó de maravilla a su nueva vida junto a su nuevo amigo, Rayo.
Lamentablemente, ambos perros han vuelto a nuestro refugio tras el fallecimiento de su dueño en 2025.

Nos alegramos mucho cuando Ra fue adoptado y, como podéis ver en las fotos, se ha adaptado muy bien y vuelve a disfrutar de la vida en casa y junto a su amigo especial.
