Hidden problem… finally found and fixed.

This is a pipe we uncovered this week after removing the floor tiles.

It hadn’t been properly sealed under the tiles, which had been causing ongoing damp issues throughout the property for a long time. The customer had constantly wet walls, damp smells, and never knew exactly where the problem was coming from.

Once we opened it up, we found the cause.

Thankfully it’s now been repaired and sealed properly — which means no more leaks, no more damp, and one very relieved customer.

Sometimes the problem is hidden… but finding it and fixing it properly is what we do.

People often see the finished result… but rarely the work that goes into getting there.

These two photos sum up a lot of the work I used to do in England before moving to Spain.

The first photo shows the hard graft — demolition, clearing rubble, and preparing everything properly.

The second photo shows the craftsmanship — taking raw materials and turning them into something you can be proud of.

That’s what I’ve always enjoyed most about this trade… seeing progress, overcoming challenges, and standing back at the end knowing you’ve built something properly.

This customer had water damage around their window which caused the plaster to blow and damage the surrounding wall.

We repaired the issue, restored the damaged plasterwork, and repainted the area so it looks as good as new again.

Builder confession… sometimes we open up a wall or look under a sink and genuinely have to ask…

“Who did this?!” 😅

Plumbing held together with tape and “creative problem solving” that definitely should never have been considered a proper repair.

We get it — people want quick fixes. But temporary repairs often lead to leaks, water damage, and much bigger costs later on.

This is exactly why proper workmanship matters.

One of our latest projects was definitely something a little different!

A customer approached us with the idea of building a custom tunnel for his model train track to run around his roof terrace — and we thought it was absolutely brilliant. 🚂

It’s great to see people putting their passions and interests first and creating spaces that bring them real enjoyment. Not every project has to be “normal” — sometimes the most unique ideas are the most rewarding to bring to life.

We loved working on this one and think the finished result turned out great!

BESPOKE CEDAR SHAKE LOG STORE

From groundwork and timber framing to the final cedar shake finish, this project taught me the value of craftsmanship, patience, and attention to detail.

Throwing it back to one of my favourite projects I ever worked on during my apprenticeship years in England 🇬🇧

This bespoke cedar shake log store was a job I genuinely loved being part of from start to finish. Starting with groundwork, then watching the timber frame take shape, and finally seeing it completed with the beautiful cedar shake cladding—it was one of those projects that really stuck with me.

At the time I was still learning my trade, but projects like this helped shape the standards I carry with me today—taking pride in doing things properly, paying attention to the details, and creating something built to last.

Looking back at these photos reminds me why I’ve always loved building—not just for the finished result, but for the whole journey of creating something from nothing.

Now I’m fortunate enough to bring that same passion and craftsmanship to projects here in Spain through Rowan Property Services.

Sometimes it’s nice to look back at where it all started.
