Foundation CANYA SOS Campo de Gibraltar, is a non-profit organization located in Andalucia, southern Spain. Our mission is to shelter, care for, and find new homes for unwanted and abandoned dogs across all eight municipalities of the Campo de Gibraltar region. Our journey began over a decade ago when, in 2010, a group of dedicated members of the Spanish stray dog’s community, became aware of the

distressing conditions at the local pound. Motivated to make a positive impact, they united forces to address the challenging situation faced by the dogs under the management of Zoo Sanitario (municipal pound). With the invaluable support of our numerous volunteers, we embarked on a mission to enhance the shelter's conditions. Over the course of the past decade, our collective efforts have resulted in numerous positive changes. Today, our commitment to the well-being of dogs remains unwavering. We continue to work tirelessly to provide a safe haven for these animals, relying on the support of our compassionate community and volunteers. Together, we strive to create a brighter future for every dog that finds refuge within our shelter.

💔 Violeta

🇪🇸Hay historias que cuestan entender.
La madre de Violeta llegó a la perrera embarazada en 2025 y tuvo la suerte de dar a luz en una cariñosa casa de acogida. Violeta y sus ocho hermanos crecieron seguros, protegidos y rodeados de cuidados. Fue adoptada siendo una pequeña cachorra y nunca debería haber tenido que conocer la vida en una perrera.

Y, sin embargo, aquí está.

Con solo un año de edad, Violeta ha sido abandonada en la perrera por su propietaria, que no pudo proporcionarle la estructura, el ejercicio y la estimulación que una perra joven y activa necesita.

Violeta se siente abrumada por su nueva realidad. En lugar de un hogar, ahora se encuentra en una pequeña jaula, rodeada de perros ladrando y de personas desconocidas.

Sigue siendo una perra muy joven con toda la vida por delante. Con la familia adecuada, ejercicio, orientación y cariño, creemos que puede volver a florecer.

🇬🇧 Violeta - Some stories are harder to understand than others.

Violeta’s mother arrived at the pound heavily pregnant in 2025 and was lucky enough to give birth in a loving foster home. Violeta and her eight siblings grew up safe, loved, and protected. She was adopted as a tiny puppy and should never have had to see the inside of a pound.

Yet here she is.

Now just one year old, Violeta has been abandoned at the pound by her owner, who was unable to provide the structure, exercise, and stimulation that a young, active dog needs.

Violeta is overwhelmed by her new reality. Instead of a home, she now finds herself in a small cage, surrounded by barking dogs and unfamiliar faces.

She is still just a young dog with her whole life ahead of her. With the right family, guidance, exercise, and love, we believe she can flourish.

Please help us find Violeta the fresh start she deserves. 🐾❤️

🇪🇸Noor tiene alrededor de 1,5 años 💛
Esta dulce Malinois es una compañera preciosa para los paseos. Camina muy bien con la correa y se mueve por el mundo de forma tranquila y suave, sin preocuparse por el tráfico, las personas o los perros que pasan cerca.

Noor es sociable con otros perros y actualmente comparte tiempo y espacio con machos y hembras sin ningún problema.

Con las personas es muy cariñosa una vez que se siente cómoda, disfrutando de la atención, los mimos y la cercanía, y tiene una naturaleza muy dulce y sensible.

Noor es una perrita joven que se beneficiaría muchísimo de un hogar tranquilo y lleno de cariño, donde pueda ganar confianza, sentirse segura y empezar por fin a disfrutar de la vida que merece. 💛

This sweet young Malinois is a wonderful companion to take out on walks. She walks beautifully on the lead and moves through the world in a calm, gentle way, without being bothered by traffic, people, or dogs passing by.

She is very affectionate with people once she feels comfortable, enjoying attention, cuddles, and closeness, and she has a naturally sweet and sensitive nature.

💛 Yosko 💛
🇪🇸Yosko es un pequeño mestizo que llegó a la perrera en mayo de 2026. Tiene alrededor de 5 años y pesa solo 7 kg — un pequeño corazón con muchísimo amor para dar.

Es bueno con los perros que ha conocido hasta ahora y muestra un carácter dulce y tranquilo. Con las personas puede ser un poco tímido al principio, pero no tiene nada de maldad. Solo necesita tiempo, paciencia y cariño para sentirse seguro.

Ahora mismo, Yosko vive solo en una jaula pequeña dentro de una perrera muy concurrida. Este pequeño pasa sus días esperando en silencio, con la esperanza de que alguien finalmente lo vea.

Lo que realmente necesita es algo sencillo: un hogar tranquilo y lleno de amor, donde pueda sentirse seguro, ir a su ritmo y, por fin, relajarse y disfrutar de la vida.

💔 Tinker Bell
🇪🇸Tinker Bell llegó a la perrera en mayo de 2026 y tiene alrededor de un año y medio.

Es una preciosa joven que acaba de llegar, por lo que todavía estamos empezando a conocerla. Por el momento, Tinker Bell se muestra un poco tímida con las personas, algo totalmente comprensible tras un cambio tan repentino en su vida.

Sin embargo, ha demostrado ser muy buena con otros perros y ha sido integrada con éxito con machos y hembras.

Todo es nuevo y abrumador para ella ahora mismo, pero creemos que con tiempo, cariño y paciencia empezará a relajarse y a mostrarnos su verdadera personalidad.

Por ahora, solo necesita seguridad… y una oportunidad para sentirse por fin en casa. 🐾💔

Alma 😍
🇪🇸Alma llegó a la perrera en mayo de 2026 y tiene alrededor de un año.

Llegó junto a otra hembra joven, Fira, y se cree que podrían ser hermanas. Compartieron jaula al llegar, pero Fira tuvo mucha suerte y encontró un hogar poco después.

Ahora Alma comparte jaula con un perro macho y se está adaptando bien. Todo es todavía muy nuevo para ella y apenas estamos empezando a conocerla.

Por el momento, Alma sigue un poco insegura con las personas, pero ha demostrado ser buena con otros perros y se está adaptando lo mejor que puede.

Esperamos que con el tiempo empiece a sentirse más segura… y, sobre todo, que muy pronto tenga también su oportunidad de encontrar un hogar. 🐾💔

🇬🇧Alma arrived at the pound in May 2026 and is around one year old.

She arrived alongside another young female, Fira, and they are believed to be sisters. They shared a cage upon arrival, but Fira was incredibly lucky and found a home shortly afterwards.

Alma is now sharing a cage with a male dog and is settling in well. Everything is still very new for her, and we are only just beginning to get to know her.

At the moment, Alma is still a little unsure with people, but she has shown herself to be good with other dogs and is adjusting as best she can.

We hope that with time she will start to feel more confident… and even more, that her own chance at a home comes very soon. 🐾💔

Kira 💔
🇪🇸Kira llegó en diciembre de 2025, con tan solo 2 años, tras dejar de ser deseada cuando llegó un nuevo bebé a su antiguo hogar.

El cambio de la vida en un hogar al entorno tan estresante de la perrera fue muy duro para ella al principio, y llegó insegura y desbordada.
Pero con el tiempo, Kira ha ganado confianza y ahora muestra su carácter dulce y fácil de llevar.

En las raras ocasiones en las que puede salir a pasear, realmente brilla 🥹 Pasea muy bien con la correa, no tira, y no parece verse afectada por coches, personas, otros perros e incluso gatos. En los días calurosos también disfruta de un pequeño chapuzón en el río y siempre está feliz de parar a recibir mimos y chuches.

Por desgracia, los paseos son muy poco frecuentes debido a la falta de voluntarios.

Comparte jaula con el guapísimo Porto, y como todos los perros, pasa más de 23½ horas al día dentro de ella, con solo un breve descanso en el patio.

Una perrita dulce y gentil que merece muchísimo más que la vida en una jaula 💔

🇬🇧Kira arrived in December 2025, at just 2 years old, after being no longer wanted when a new baby arrived in her previous home.

The change from home life to the stressful environment of the pound was hard for her at first, and she arrived feeling unsure and overwhelmed.
But with time, Kira has gained confidence and now shows her lovely, easygoing nature.

On the rare occasions she gets out for a walk, she truly shines 🥹 She walks beautifully on the lead, doesn’t pull, and takes everything in her stride — cars, people, dogs, and even cats don’t seem to bother her. She even enjoys a quick dip in the river on hot days and always makes time for cuddles and treats.
Sadly, walks are far too rare due to the lack of volunteers.

She shares a cage with the handsome Porto, and like all the dogs, she spends more than 23½ hours a day inside it, with only a short break in the patio.

A sweet, gentle girl who deserves so much more than life in a cage 💔

🇪🇸Eicha tiene la suerte de contar con voluntarios que la quieren mucho, y uno de ellos incluso le ha dedicado una pequeña canción. 💛
