When you have a reactive dog… it’s easy to feel like you’re getting it wrong.

I used to think that too.

But some dogs just experience the world more intensely… and that doesn’t mean we’re failing.

It just means we learn to meet them where they are 🤍

I didn’t want a puppy…

But Genie had other plans 🤍

Found abandoned in a canal near my home just 5 months ago, she’s brought so much light into our lives.

And for Beanie… she’s changed everything.

Where he feels unsure, she feels safe.
Where he hesitates, she trusts.

She’s taken the pressure off him just by being who she is.

Sometimes the right dog doesn’t just join your life… they help another one heal 🐾

I questioned my decision more than once with Beanie.

When fear looks like aggression… it’s not always easy to live with.

It’s caused tension, doubt, and a lot of learning — for me as much as him.

But underneath it all, he’s just a dog trying to feel safe.🐾

This is why I wrote my book… because no one really talks about this part 🤍

These are my Podencos. Genie & Beanie 🐾

They are my family 🤍

They deserve protection, just like any other dog.

But many hunting dogs are still left without proper legal protection in Spain 💔

I’m back with the two Galgos dogs that were abandoned in the old ruin near my village a few weeks ago.

Luckily, we managed to catch them quickly and they are now safe in a temporary foster home nearby. This also means that I can visit them.

They are due to be collected early next week by a dedicated Galgos association called 112 Carlta Galgos

Both me & the foster carers have fallen in love with the dogs and are naturally a bit anxious about them leaving. But we must put our trust in the hands of the rescue association as they know what they are doing. We are praying that they get rehomed together as they definitely a bonded pair. The boy dog cried horribly what the female gets taken out without him.

I’ll keep you updated with news of these gentle giants. They so deserve a loving home together 🤞🐾🤍

It was a breakthrough day for me and these beautiful abandoned Galgos.

Within just 24 hours, they let me stroke them (even the really timid boy!)

Tomorrow, we’ll attempt to catch them. A loving foster home awaits 🤍
