Dogs are not just for Christmas. Dogs are like children. They need to be fed, cared for, walked and loved everyday. If you are considering getting a dog this Christmas then please consider all of the responsibilities that come with being a dog owner.

Questions you should ask yourself when thinking about getting a dog?

- Do I currently have the right environment and space to have a dog?
- Can I afford the monthly expenses such as vet bills, food and pet insurance?
- Can I look after them for the next 8 - 16 years?
- Do I have enough time to walk and exercise them everyday?
- Can someone care for them when you are not around?
- Do you have the time and patience to train them properly?
- Have you researched the type breed you want to get?

A big thank you to Karina and Jenny 🐶 A very interesting course and one which I would highly recommend to anyone who is a dog owner/ works with dogs on a daily basis or even has an interest in dogs.

A canine first responder is a person who can administer first aid in an emergency to an injured or sick dog before they are seen by a vet or a medical professional.

Emergency situations might include
-a furry friend in trouble at water
-a furry friend in need after being struck by a vehicle
-a furry who has become suddenly ill

Meet Nova and Harley, two sisters 💛 These are two black German Shepherds which I had the pleasure of looking after for a week.

German shepherds are some of the most highly active dogs breeds out there. Their exercise needs can vary based on a number of factors including age, fitness level, their food intake and more. These dogs usually require a minimum of 90 minutes of exercise which can be spread out across the day and can include high energy activities such as playing, walking and running.

Regular exercise for this breed will not only keep them in good shape, but it will also help improve their behaviours and well-being. 🐾
