I am just a stray cat…
You walk past me every day,
maybe without even noticing me —
or maybe you look at me with disgust and try to hurt me.
I was born in the streets,
and since my very first day, I’ve been fighting to survive.
I search for food to ease my hunger,
for water to quench my thirst,
and for a small corner to hide from the heat or cold.
If I’m lucky enough to grow up,
I may bring tiny kittens into this harsh world.
I protect them with all my strength,
I struggle to find them just a little food.
But sometimes, the end is cruel…
You leave poisoned food behind,
and I die — with my babies —
simply because we were hungry.
All I ask from you is mercy.
If you can’t feed me, just let me be.
I have feelings, pain, and love — just like you.
Being stronger than me doesn’t give you the right to hurt me.
It gives you the chance to show kindness and compassion.
So next time you see me, remember —
you might not change the whole world,
but you can change mine. ❤️
