Diamond Firetail finches are hardy birds. These finches (male and female) usually stay together for life. These finches breed most all year long, except for in very cold weather. That's the good news. However, they aren't finches for the beginner. They can be hard to breed, very aggressive, and it can be hard to tell males and females apart. They are very aggressive, especially when breeding. It's hard to mix them with other finches in an aviary. They are prone to obesity if they aren't on a well-balanced diet or flying around. Overall, I'd say this is a finch best left for someone who is very experienced with finches.
