Filming these ancestral caves of the endangered African Penguin was a real highlight for me and the team.
It was a huge effort from everyone to get us in there safely and capture their story.

Working the last of the light in the Adelie colony near Esperanza Base on the Antarctica Peninsula.
Using the OG (why did they stop making these they were bomb proof!)
And cameras, glass from

We had three sunsets in two months there due to the nature of the weather on the peninsula so when the light was out we stayed out shooting.....all day!

Fun times at the end of the Earth shooting for Penguins feature film

Thanks to Jason from for the pic

Dwarfed by the landscape around us, we search tirelessly in the endless frozen expanse for our animal character.

One of those "OH S×××" moments in the field.
They can dissolve into the landscape in a flash.

Tune into BBC ONE next year for the results on a the next installment of the Blue Planet Series.
All made possible by a great team on the production and support from in the field too.

The first time I travelled to Borneo I was amazed at the expanse of forest below me but as we got closer it became apparent it wasnt the forest I thought it was......
It was Oil Palm
The month that followed was formative for me.
Seeing the destruction first hand leaves it mark.

This piece was put together by Silverback Films and is reposted from the OpenPlanet.

🌴 Palm oil is one of the world’s most widely used vegetable oils, found in food, cosmetics, and fuel.

🌏 While plantations provide livelihoods, the large-scale conversation of land also impacts forests, wildlife habitats, and ecosystems.

🪙 Balancing economic benefits with environmental impacts remains a key challenge in palm oil production.

Storytelling can help bring these trade-offs to life, shaping our understanding of the impacts on people and nature and inspiring action towards sustainable land management.
