No dog's overwhelmed all of a sudden or overreacting out of the blue. There are signs of stress, uneasiness or overwhelm he shows for a long time before. Unfortunately they get overlooked easily, especially in busy family life.

When you recognize them right from the beginning, you can help your dog straight away. This brings back a lot of ease to your family life!

To know how to do that you need to seek advice from a dog trainer. Make sure she (or he) is using gentle methods and that she is experienced - there's too much at risk!

There's an easy solution. It doesn't take very long training sessions, you don't have to go somewhere AND it's a gentle and friendly way of teaching your dog how to behave.

To find your family dog, look out for:
🐕 better a a bigger dog than a small one
🐕 better a grown up dog than a puppy
🐕 female or male, that doesn't matter
🐕 why does a dog have to come from a breeder - consider adopting a dog from a shelter!

In my opinion, the golden rule isn't: "When the dog is resting, the child isn't allowed anywhere near it."
To me it is: When your toddler and your dog engage with each other, you are there to make sure, both are enjoying it. ALWAYS.

To avoid accidents you must know and realize the calming signals when your dog uses them. Using calming signals he tries to deal with a potential uncomfortable situation in a peaceful way.
When is your help needed: When your dog shows calming signals a little more urgent than my dog in the reel.
Your dog may never feel like he had to manage the situation on his own or if he can't leave it instantly!
