Advancing Veterinary Dentistry with In-Clinic Precision: GLINX Collaborative Research at EVDF 2026 🦷🔬
We are thrilled to share our collaborative study presented at the European Veterinary Dental Forum (EVDF) 2026 in Porto, Portugal.

Poster Title:
The Importance of On-Site PCR Diagnostics in Managing Feline Oral Inflammatory Diseases🐱

Collaborators:
Ewa Chronowska, DVM, Resident EVDC, and Jerzy Gawor, DVM, PhD, DAVDC, DEVDC

Diagnostic Technology Partner:
Shanghai GlinX Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (GlinX)

Panel: InCycleFelineRespiratory5-in-1Panel
Feline Herpesirus type 1(FHV-I), Feline Calicivirus (FCV),Mycoplasma felis(M.felis), Chlamydophila felis(C.felis), and Bordetella bronchiseptica (B.b))

Key Research Insight:
Our study revealed that 80% of cats with oral inflammatory conditions tested positive for at least one respiratory pathogen, showcasing the role of infectious agents in feline oral diseases like stomatitis and refractory periodontitis. 🦠

Technology Advantage:
The InCycle PCR System provided same-day diagnostics, enabling real-time identification of pathogens and correlation with disease severity. ⏱️

Why It Matters:
In-clinic PCR speeds up diagnosis, enhances treatment precision, and reduces patient discomfort. We thank Dr. Chronowska and Dr. Gawor for their collaboration. At GlinX, we’re focused on making advanced diagnostics accessible and routine in veterinary practice for better patient outcomes. 🌍

GlinX Pet Health Alert |🐱Toxoplasmosis Truth: Should You Really Worry About Your Cat?

Have you heard these before? 👇
❌ “If a cat tests positive for toxoplasma antibodies, it will infect humans.”
❌ “Once infected, you’re immune for life—no need to worry anymore.”

👉 The truth? Not exactly.
Let’s break it down with science 👇
🧪 Infection is common—but not as scary as it sounds
🌍 About 30–50% of people worldwide have antibodies
🐱 Cats (U.S.): 16–40%

👉 Key point:
Being infected ≠ actively spreading the parasite

🐱 When are cats actually contagious?
✔️ Usually only 1–2 weeks after their first infection
✔️ Most of the time: they are NOT shedding oocysts

📊 Example: A study in Switzerland found extremely low PCR positivity in cat f***s (~1/252)

👉 Bottom line:
Your cat is very unlikely to be contagious most of the time

🧬 Antibodies don’t tell the whole story
✔️ IgG positive → past infection (typically not shedding)
⚠️ IgM positive → recent or active infection (possible risk)
⚠️ PCR positive → current infection (may need precautions)

👉 Important:
Antibody tests alone cannot tell if a cat is currently infectious

🚨 Who should be more cautious?
❤️ Pregnant women
👶 Infants
🛡️ Immunocompromised individuals

Because infection may lead to:
⚠️ Miscarriage or preterm birth
⚠️ Fetal developmental issues
⚠️ Eye or neurological problems

🧼 What should you do?
🐱 Testing options:
✔️ F***l PCR → check if the cat is shedding
✔️ Blood PCR → detect active infection
✔️ IgG / IgM → help determine infection stage

🏡 Prevention tips:
✔️ Isolate cats during acute infection (~1 month)
✔️ Avoid handling litter if pregnant/immunocompromised
✔️ Don’t feed raw meat or organs
✔️ Practice good hygiene

🐶 What about dogs?
✔️ Dogs can get infected
❗ But they don’t shed oocysts, so the risk to humans is much lower

💬 Final takeaway:
👉 Toxoplasmosis itself isn’t the real problem
👉 Misinformation and neglect are

With proper knowledge + simple precautions = You and your pet can live safely together❤️

GlinX Pet Health Alert | 🐱 Feline Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) | Must-Read for Vets & Cat Owners

A “silent but inevitable” genetic disease
Do you own a Persian, British Shorthair, or Exotic Shorthair?
Or planning to bring one home? This is something you should know.

🧬 What is PKD?
Feline Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is an autosomal dominant genetic disorder.

👉 In simple terms:
If a cat carries the mutation → it WILL develop the disease (100% penetrance)
What happens:
Fluid-filled cysts gradually form in the kidneys → replace normal tissue →
eventually lead to chronic kidney failure (irreversible)

🐈 Which cats are at higher risk?
🔴 High-risk breeds
Persian | Exotic Shorthair | British Shorthair
🟡 Moderate risk
Ragdoll, Burmese, Devon Rex, Cornish Rex, Bombay, etc.
🟢 Lower risk
Maine C**n, Norwegian Forest Cat, Bengal, etc.

📊 Key stats:
Persian mutation rate: 38–49%
Non-Persian breeds: 9–14%
~6% of cats worldwide are affected
⏰ Symptoms typically appear between 3–10 years (average ~7 years)

⚠️ Clinical signs (easy to miss!)
Early stage: no obvious symptoms
Later stage (similar to chronic kidney disease):
Decreased appetite / weight loss
Increased thirst & urination
Lethargy
Vomiting / diarrhea
Anemia / blood in urine

❗ Important:
These signs are not specific to PKD

🔍 How is PKD diagnosed?
✅ Gold standard: Genetic testing + Abdominal ultrasound
🧬 Genetic testing
✔ Can be done at any age (even kittens)
✔ Ideal for early screening & breeding decisions
✖ Cannot assess disease severity
🖥 Ultrasound
✔ Visualizes kidney cysts
✔ Useful for staging & monitoring
✖ May miss very early/small cysts

👉 Best approach:
Use genetic testing for screening, ultrasound for monitoring progression

🧬 Genetics (critical for breeders)
Main gene involved: PKD1
Affected cats are typically heterozygous (homozygous is lethal)

📌 Inheritance pattern:
Affected × Normal → ~50% affected offspring
Affected × Affected →
❗25% lethal + 50% affected + 25% normal
🚫 PKD-positive cats should NEVER be bred

💊 Is there a cure?
❌ No cure (irreversible)
But progression can be managed and slowed:
💧 Fluid therapy (including subcutaneous fluids)
🍽 Renal prescription diets
⚖ Electrolyte & acid-base balance
📉 Control proteinuria & hypertension
🩸 Manage anemia
🤢 Symptomatic care (anti-nausea, appetite stimulants)

📊 Monitor regularly:
CREA | SDMA | Blood pressure | Urine protein (UP/C)

❤️ Key takeaways
👩‍⚕️ For veterinarians:
Include PKD in differential diagnosis for CKD cases
Recommend screening for high-risk breeds
🐾 For cat owners:
1️⃣ High-risk breeds → Get genetic testing early
2️⃣ Diagnosed cats → Annual ultrasound + kidney monitoring
3️⃣ Unknown background → Test once for peace of mind
4️⃣ Abnormal kidney values → Rule out PKD

📢 Final thought
PKD is a disease that is detectable early—but not reversible.
👉 Early screening = better outcomes
👉 Responsible breeding = prevention
