We are back with another episode of the Dog Training Language series and this time, we are tackling a big topic, the three core concepts to change behaviour - shaping, luring and capturing.

Cute poodles: .boba.lola.toypoodles

When you figure out how to use all 3, you can teach your dog new things in a jiffy.

Shaping is when you reward small steps toward the behaviour you want. So if you’re teaching a down, you mark and reward every little movement closer to the floor until your dog gets there.

Luring is using a treat to guide your dog into position. Move it from their nose down between their paws and they’ll usually fold right into a down.

Capturing is catching behaviours your dog already offers on their own. A sit, a down, a shake. You mark it, reward it, and start putting it on cue.

Knowing when to use which is honestly what turns training into real communication with your dog.

I’ll be in Penang with on 20 and 21 June helping dogs with their behavioural needs, from reactivity and anxiety to confidence building and everyday manners.

If you want to know more or book a session, WhatsApp on +60 18 260 0599 and we will get back to you!

This has to be one of the most enchanting Airbnbs I’ve ever stayed in. There’s something about the space that just makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper. Tucked in a central spot about 10 minutes from the Penang Bridge, it made getting around to all the food haunts so easy, yet it still felt like a quiet little escape.

The lush greenery was everything. You could see how much the dogs loved it, just wandering, sniffing, settling in like they belonged there too.

Inside, it was just as thoughtful. Two cozy rooms with queen beds, perfect for up to four people. But what really stayed with me were the small details that made it feel like someone genuinely cared. A dog bowl already prepared, extra blankets, seasonings for a simple meal, a universal plug, toiletries. Nothing felt forgotten. The host was kind, responsive, and incredibly patient throughout.

If you’re a pet parent thinking of bringing your furkid here, please treat this place with care. Keep it clean, leave it as gently as you found it. Spaces like this are rare, and they exist because someone chose to trust us.

It really is a little treasure.
