This is what im calling our soaking station “ . It gets really dry around here in Southern Alberta so I decided we needed a better area than our mud pit by the drinking water to soak hooves before trims as it makes it so much easier and if I’m trimming iI especially appreciate how much softer their hooves are since I need 2 hands to work the nippers we converted an old horse shelter by lining the bottom with a thick tarp from a super B but I’m sure other things would work. I don’t have a plug to drain it do I just bucket the water out after we are done with it and we fill it with a garden hose we run from our barn next door . We also added a gate , this will at some point allow me to close them in to soak while I work near by. For now only a few of ours are comfortable in a stall and are used to freedom so I am tying them or just standing either them on a lead rope with the gate open for now until they get used to it. So far so good . This horse idd sad pretty tall for it but still fits in just fine. We love it and it’s working well so far. I just pick out hooves and soak anywhere from half hour to an hour depending on how dry it is . It’ makes a huge difference. Thought I’d share in case people are looking for solutions feel free to steal this idea and improve upon it . We just used an existing structure and I built it and am no builder 😂 I’d probably have it a bit different and taller otherwise however it works great for us
