ACCR came in existence through my role as Animal Control By-Law Officer. The pound was seen by many as a animal shelter, and as there were no local animals shelters the pound morphed into a shelter. Because some of the dogs that came my way suffered from behavioural problems I used my pack of dogs and my way of training to turn them around so that they were suitable for adoption. I have never come

across a 'bad' dog, but i have seen so many bad owners who's inability to understand the rudiments of dog training led to dogs becoming out of control. I live and work with the dogs so that they may find a better home and life. Two special people help with fundraising and we accept donations with open arms. We are a non profit animal shelter who work 24/7 helping dogs and cats find a better life. We rehabilitate dogs and try our best to furnish you with the dog that best suits your lifestyle. This 3 yr old German shepherd has been treated so badly ( I won't go into details) his go to comfort is to bite his tail and endlessly spin. This is just the start of his rehabilitation to break that cycle and let him understand he is important, has a purpose in life, and, that he is wanted.

If you are planning on adopting a dog, now is the time. There are many breeds and ages waiting for a home of their own!!!! Phone the rescue if interested. Many rescues are full and are having an intake freeze!! Adopt, don’t shop!! So many dogs at the rescue are waiting for a family and home to call their own!!! Adopting makes room as well for the many dogs that will be coming in before winter! Consider adoption. So many beautiful dogs at the rescue!!!!
