🌈 In Loving Memory of Olly 🌈
Some souls are with us only briefly, but they leave an imprint far bigger than their time here. Our sweet Olly was one of those souls.
From the start, we knew Olly was special. He was half the size of his siblings, perfectly proportioned but different, with the most adorable little face. At two months old, his rare condition — Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) — revealed itself. EDS meant his skin and ligaments lacked the collagen to stay strong, which caused painful injuries without cause.
We were faced with a difficult decision, but Olly made it easy for us — because through it all, he was happy, playful, and so full of love. Even while bandaged, he wanted nothing more than to cuddle, play, and charm everyone he met (and he did!).
Thanks to our incredible partners at PetNation, Olly was given every chance to live a joyful life. Dr. Jeff and his team poured their hearts into his care for the past six weeks. Olly kept Dr. Jeff company in his office and even went home with him at night. His foster moms, Tina and Katelyn, who brought him into the world, also gave him so much love during his earliest days. We will be forever grateful to them all.
Despite every effort — special bandages, little protective outfits, and endless love — Olly’s condition was just too much for his tiny body. Last weekend, as new lesions appeared, we knew it was time to let him go peacefully. Surrounded by love, Olly crossed the rainbow bridge at Dr. Jeff’s home.
💜 If love could have healed him, he would still be here today. 💜
We want to share some of the words Dr. Jeff wrote to his team, because they capture Olly’s spirit perfectly:
“Even while I bandaged him every day, he played, ate, grew, and approached the world with happiness and positivity. Debbie called him ‘the most adorable little disaster that didn’t know it’ — and that really was Ollie. He had no idea how fragile he was. He just lived each day with joy.”
Olly’s short life reminds us why we do this work: every life, no matter how fragile, deserves dignity, love, and comfort. Olly gave us all the gift of joy, trust, and resilience. He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Run free, sweet Olly. 💕🐾
