We are a newly renovated hospital that combines McEwen and Frontenac, two practices with more than 30+ years of experience each!

We provide everything from examinations to life-saving surgeries. You and your pet’s experience is our top priority! McEwen Animal Hospital was opened on Bath Road in 1954, by Dr. R. McEwen, to fulfill a need in the expanding Kingston Township for veterinary care of large animals and then evolving to include small animals. The tradition of veterinary care was carried on by Dr. B. Karschau and his

team in the 1980s through to 2008 when Dr. K. Rutledge and his caring team took over to continue providing veterinary care for the surrounding area. In 2019, McEwen Animal Hospital and Frontenac Animal Hospital were acquired together. The two clinics have since merged and relocated to newly renovated premises, all in an effort to continue to provide veterinary care to their existing patients.

Congratulations to our May's Pet of the Month, Sheldon!
At 14 years young, Sheldon is a sweet and shy boy who has captured the hearts of everyone at the clinic.💙 He visits us monthly for his Solensia injections, which have made a tremendous difference in managing his arthritis and have helped him regain excellent mobility.😸 His devoted owner also keeps him on a prescription dental diet to support his oral health and keep his teeth looking extra clean.😁 While Sheldon may be a little reserved, he's normally not quiet—he loves to use his voice and always has something to say! We adore seeing him each month, and it's clear he's just as loved at home. Congratulations, Sheldon!🥳

If you have a concern, contact us! It's always better safe than sorry when you notice:

🔸Harder or softer stool
🔸Blood or mucus
🔸Changes in colour, especially dark or black stool
🔸More or less output than usual
🔸Any sign of straining, ESPECIALLY in male cats!!
