Becky's Pet Sitting I am an animal lover who offers home visit pet sitting services. Specializing in cats and exotic pets. I will occasionally do dog walking as well.

I have over 15 years of experience owning and working with animals. I offer home visit pet sitting services specializing in exotics, but I love all critters. I'm a member of the Alberta Force Free Alliance (www.albertaforcefreealliance.com), and I believe in handling and caring for animals in as stress free way as possible. I own, and have owned, many different types of animals, and am experienced

I service families in St. Albert, NW Edmonton, and parts of Sturgeon County. May drive further depending on the situation.

I'm experienced in the care of a wide variety of pets, from cats, bunnies, and other furry friends, to exotic pets like birds, reptiles and amphibians, and fish. I can also administer prescribed medications to cooperative pets, including pills and injections.

Did you know the Canadian Government is matching donations to the Red Cross for aid in Ukraine?

If you want to help and can donate, do so before March 18th.

If you want to help and can't donate, share this post. Then email or call your MP, MLA, and the political party you support as well as any other local representatives (see below!) and tell them that you support Ukraine and you expect to see our government do the same. Tell them you'll remember their actions when the next election comes. Hold them to it.

A simple graphic with 3 easy options to help with nicer doir greetings! 💗💗

There are several reasons why teaching dogs not to jump up can be challenging.

Reason #1: You aren't managing properly.

Friendly dogs jump to get closer to our faces. This is a natural greeting ritual in the wild, and we humans are just too darned tall for dogs. And because being close to our faces is so reinforcing in this context, dogs are being rewarded every time it works for them.

This is why preventing the jumping from ever happening in the first place is such a key element in training. Every time they successfully get closer to someone's face by jumping, they are learning that jumping works and that they should do it more often.

No matter how perfect your training is, it'll be an uphill battle if you aren't managing to prevent this. Here are some options for management, depending on your situation. We can think of many others. Can you?

Listen to the early signs, or know your dog may feel they have to escalate.

Dogs communicate at different “volumes.” Noticing and listening to the more subtle signs (low volume) enables us to intervene and help dogs feel more comfortable so they don’t resort to the more overt signs (high volume).
