Bernese Mountain Dogs It was in 1989 that our love for the Bernese Mountain Dog began. From then on it was a relationship that could not be broken.

At this time a beautiful little puppy from the Pattersons Sanmarco's Kennel was brought into our lives. Since this time we have worked with our dogs obtaining various titles which include, Can. Championships, Companion Dog, Canine Good Neighbour, Rally-O as well as Search & Rescue, agility and draft work training. We feel that for the betterment of the breed, selective breeding must be done once b

Welcome to Vinland Bernese CKC registered breeders of Bernese Mountain Dogs.

Currently we do not have any puppies available nor do we have any breeding plans. As we are very particular with our breeding, we only breed when we have very suitable dogs. We are strict on health testing, temperament, conformation and working dog suitability and therefore are extremely selective with breeding.

We are not accepting inquiries at this time, we suggest referring to the BMD Club of Canada breeders list.

FUNDRAISER for Casey's Autism Service Dog! :)

This fundraiser is to help offset the cost of training a service dog for little Casey! (Training an Autism service dog costs between $10,000 and $20,000).

Stephanie Morris (NLSD member) and Brad's 4 year old son was diagnosed with ASD at the age of 2 - Casey frequently attempts to elope and does not have a good concept of traffic safety - Casey's service dog will assist with preventing elopement, tracking should he escape and assisting with sensory needs.

You could win a locally made Re-tired & Re-cycled Newfoundland pony swing with rope attachments and spreader bar.

The swing was donated by Newfoundland Search Dogs and hand crafted by Gary Barnes Leatherworks, Vinland K9 and Waste Knot Want Knot.

Tickets are $20 each or 2 for $30.

The art of training your dog to do nothing! 🐾😎🤔

The art of "doing nothing"...what is the place command ❓..
.
Here Ambi demonstrates a "place" command on a foam pad in the rear of my car, during a search and rescue training day. Does your dog constantly pace around the house, begging for attention, nudging your hands, pawing at you, do they wine, or cry? Well chances are each dog has their own way of expressing that they want attention, but have the earned it and do they need it? Does your dog know how to simply Relax 🏖️ and do nothing...

The place command trains your dog to down-stay on a rug, mat, pad or anything they can physically lay on. We train our dogs to do this so they can have some much needed down time. A dog that is constantly pushing for attention is not settled, exercise is vital, but we also train our dogs to relax calmly and that it's a great thing!

We initially train the place command, which is a combination of target training, down and stay, trained in intervals. We build up duration by increasing the time span that they perform the place. This allows us to place our dogs when we are cooking, cleaning, people enter the home or we need them to stay in a specific position such as Ambi on her pad in the car during search and rescue training days.

RIP Our sweet Loki. xo Bobbi, Gary, Melanie and Josh

On behalf of the Newfoundland Search Dogs, we would like to say a final farewell to our K9 Loki. Loki and Gary are one of the longest standing K9 partnerships with the group and we are willing to say the most dedicated. Loki (And Gary) certified in wilderness and urban air-scenting under NLSD three times and is one of the original two K9 teams to certify with us. She was a very kind, dedicated and consistent dog who would work for Gary without hesitation and with determination for her job.

Our team will never be the same without Loki, but she has been a foundation stone and an example that those of us who know her can never forget.

Thank you Loki for your contribution to our team and for being part of our roots.

The Vinland SAR Berners with Newfoundland Search Dogs at NL Power Safety family fun day having a time and helping people understand the importance of civil volunteer K9 SAR Teams and their dedication to training so that they will be mission ready when called out!!

Newfoundland Power as a company strives for the highest safety standard possible, Newfoundland Search Dogs appreciate this and love to support such a great event.

Each year NL Power puts off a family safety event for the families of their employees. This event has great safety central activities for adults and kids alike that are both fun and informative.

Once again the NL Search Dogs are proud to team with NL Power and attend this fantastic event, and what a day we had!

We are proud to be associated with NL Power and hope to continue our relationship into the future. Spreading Safety awareness is something that is important to us and our SAR K9's thoroughly enjoy all the cuddles from NL Power employees and families!

Bo was challenged today at K9 SAR training. Our hider was completely camouflaged in a Giles suit. Completely undetectable visually. She did a great job, alerting and find -refind on the subject. She then went on to find the second hider/subject down in the woods. We love windy days as it makes for great K9 training with NL Search Dogs.
