The first thing you will notice when you arrive at St George's Stable is that the horses are truly happy! Staff is friendly, courteous and happy to help accommodate each horse's needs. As a professional trainer, Frank has years of experience in training and development of his young horses and riders of all ages. In 1975 Frank won a bronze medal at the Pan American games and for the next three years he competed at Spruce Meadows on Canada's Nation Cup teams. He has coached the North American Young Riders Team, coached in Asia and Australia and spent four years coaching the Malaysian equestrian team. Frank has been coaching in Calgary for close to 40 years and has been a part of the success of almost all the local professionals at one time or another. Today Frank can be found working with his young stock, coaching his students at St George's and teaching clinics across Canada and the United States. Frank is also actively involved in the importing and exporting of warmbloods between Canada and Europe. Further, he is an integral part of breeding and training Canadian Warmbloods with Edda Selinger, (wife of Joe Selinger). The centerpiece of their breeding operation is the stallion, Carthago Sun I. St George's Stable currently has a large number of Carthago Sun I offspring, in various levels of training.

The finalized and confirmed numbers are finally in! Our 2025 St. George’s Derby in affiliation with raised $100,000 for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation! This couldn’t have been possible without all of the amazing support from everyone. From our spectators and competitors, to our sponsors and volunteers, thank you. All of us at St. George’s highly anticipate this event every year so we’re so grateful to have such a great turnout like we did this year. From the bottom of our hearts, we send out the biggest appreciation to all of the competitors who conquered our ring, every spectator on the side lines, those who donated to the ACHF, and every single one of our amazing sponsors and volunteers who were the crucial foundation behind this day coming into fruition. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.

With our wonderful working student of the season going back home at the end of the month, we now have an opening for another amazing individual who would love the opportunity to advance in their riding and grow their knowledge about the industry!

Working student position opening at St. George’s Stables. 4 mins from Spruce Meadows and located right beside RMSJ. Excellent opportunity for someone ambitious who has goals they want to achieve.

About the coach:
Frank Selinger has years of experience riding at the highest level and has spent years bringing riders to the top of the sport making him a very skilled, effective and articulate coach. He has decades of experience training all different types of show jumpers and young horses. He believes in putting the horse’s best interest first, always, and in creative solutions. One of his philosophies: instead of fitting a horse into a “box,” he believes in building the box around the horse.

Everyday is an opportunity to learn something and fine tune one’s skills on stable management, horse care, horsemanship, ground work, young horse handling and training and more. Working with our team will reward individuals with valuable hands on experience learning from an expert horseman.

In exchange for their work, students will receive full indoor board for one horse, lessons, horse show coaching and full use of the stables’ amenities. Accommodation can be discussed.

Message us with your resume and experience for consideration.
