A big time BBQ season emergency we see often. 🌽
"Corn Cobs a Hidden Danger for Pets" 🌽
Patient Update: Bruno
This is Bruno, a very handsome, 2 year old, Golden Retriever. He presented to Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic after eating a corn cob and started vomiting. X-rays revealed a corn cob gastrointestinal obstruction and surgery was needed to remove it. He is recovering well from his surgery in this picture.
Corn cobs are a common summer danger we see in the ER. When swallowed, they can get lodged in the stomach or intestines, causing pain, vomiting, lethargy, and life-threatening complications if not treated quickly.
💡 To prevent this kind of emergency:
-Never leave corn cobs within your pet’s reach
-Dispose of them in a secure trash can
-Remind guests not to feed table scraps
We’re happy to report that Bruno’s surgery went well and he’s now back home recovering well 💙.
If your pet ever gets into something they shouldn’t, Bluewater Veterinary Emergency Clinic is here when you need us.
