So, I never thought I would be THAT person (you know, the one to go the fundraising route).
But, yes, I am THAT dog person!
This is all a bit overwhelming for me so I am reaching out to ask for your support, whether through a donation or by simply sharing this fundraiser with others who might be willing to help.
My sweet little rescue foster-fail chihuahua, Benjamin, lost vision in one eye last year. While he was starting to adjust to life in this new reality, he quickly and unexpectedly lost vision in his second eye. Although he had some signs of cataracts when he came into rescue, his vet and I were not expecting it to progress to blindness. Watching him try to navigate the house with a new normal of caution and wariness has been heartbreaking.
This has been a very confusing time for him and I am looking to restore his vision. I would love to be able to give him back the gift of sight so he can run around and play in the grass without fear. Seeing his excitement at being able to explore the world again would be pure joy for me and my heart. The surgery on May 6 is expected to be $5700. Unfortunately, the cost of the procedure is more than we are able to manage on our own at this time. To add to the complexity, insurance will not cover the procedure because it is considered a pre-existing condition.
Any contribution, big or small, would make a world of difference to Benjamin and me.
Thank you for your time, love and compassion!
