Fall is coyote dispersal season in Ottawa. Young coyotes are leaving their parents to find new territory, which means more sightings in urban areas. Coyotes are part of Ottawa’s natural ecosystem.
If a coyote approaches, make noise, stand tall, and back away slowly.

Dr. Jane Goodall
With great sadness, the Jane Goodall Institute confirmed this morning the passing of the organization’s founder, Dr. Jane Goodall, age 91 who died peacefully in her sleep while in Los Angeles, CA for her speaking tour in the United States.
Dr. Goodall’s life and work not only made an indelible mark on our understanding of chimpanzees and other species, but also of humankind and the environments we all share. She inspired curiosity, hope and compassion in countless people around the world, and paved the way for many others — particularly young people who gave her hope for the future.
In 1960 Dr. Goodall established the longest running wild chimpanzee study in Gombe National Park, Tanzania which continues to this day. She pioneered and sustained the Jane Goodall Institute’s community-centered conservation initiatives across the chimpanzee range for over four decades. Her legacy includes the creation of JGI’s international environmental and humanitarian youth program Roots & Shoots, which is actively driving change in 75 countries and counting around the world.

This morning an OC Transpo driver spotted this dog wandering alone in Vanier and was able to hold it until our officers arrived on scene. With their help, the pup was safely brought to the Ottawa Humane Society. If you recognize this dog or know the owner, please contact the Ottawa Humane Society to arrange pickup.

Nous avons une poule totalement persuadée d’être un chat. Elle refuse de rentrer dans le poulailler avec les autres, dort uniquement avec le chat et mange seulement dans sa gamelle. Impossible de la convaincre de rejoindre le poulailler pour se nourrir, boire ou pondre. Elle est vraiment étrange et passe ses journées à suivre le chat partout dans le jardin. 😆

Basic medical care: Administration of medication, puffer for Asthmatic pets,
Insulin injections, Subcutaneous injections
House sitting with no pets (caring for the house for example security checks, checking the pipes, basements)
Cat shrinks: We provide cat behavior sessions, correcting unwanted behavior, providing suggestions and tools to modify feline behavior.
Dog Behaviorists: dealing with all kinds of issues such as aggression and anxiety, providing and conducting educational sessions for understanding the underlying causes of the unwanted behavior.
Basic grooming services only at this time, such as trimming nails and brushing.
